A Little Bit of STJ During The Holidays

Post by greyhoundmom »

:D Hope everyone had a great holiday! We're recovering from over-indulging - our house had too many meals, late nights, early mornings and copious amounts of vino on the deck! We had a little STJ after presents were opened. First, we made Painkillers and significant other, brother-in-law and wife opened I'd Rather Be on STJ license plate frames amd straw hat, and S/O also got some U.S. Divers packable travel snorkle fins (greyhoundmom ordered some for herself, too!). They're compact and supposed to be just as powerful as full-sized fins. Great for us since we always go with carry-on. Anyone used them :?:

Haven't used the fins but am thinking about ordering some for myself. Mine current set is so big.

The travelling friends were over on the 22nd and we spent some time with wine glasses in hand, viewing our many St. John Christmas tree decorations.

The best thing about post-holiday in our house is that hubs is now "ready" to start thinking about our February trip. I am the planner and it drives me slightly batty that he waits so long to get excited about the upcoming trip.

Less than 60 days for us!

John and I had those fins for our trips this year. They were fine, but they definitely are not as powerful as the full sized fins. You'll work a little harder with them. We actually gave ours to one of the Caneel staff members when we were leaving because we are going back to the full sized fins. I've heard good things about split fins, so might try those next.

We bring our masks and snorkels but always rent fins when we get where we're going. I can always find a pair of fins that I'm satisfied with and I don't like dealing with them in luggage.

I highly recommend the split fins and a dry snorkle if anyone is looking for new equipment. I love, love, love mine :D .

I've been considering getting split fins, too. Diana, what is it that you like so much about them? I've heard they're easier on your knees, which would be a God-send for me. I got out of the water earlier than I wanted to a couple of times just because my knees hurt.
