Leaving Saturday - what do you want to know while I'm there?

Post by ATG »

Hi Everyone,
Don't want to make you all jealous or anything, but we are finally leaving on Saturday for a week in St. John!!!! Staying at Lavendar Hill. If anyone has any questions, I'll keep my eye out for some answers.

For all of you who are going to be down there, a guy I work with gave me his granddaughter's Flat Stanley (never heard of this before yesterday - sort of like the traveling gnome!), so I will be the one posing and taking pictures of this paper cut out gingerbread looking figure all over St. John.....

My son had to do that Flat Stanley thing a few years back. He sent it to my Mom in Florida and she took a lot of funny pictures with him. Flat Stanley even went parasailing! If he's laminated maybe you can take him snorkeling! :)

One thing I would like for you to check out while you are there is the condition of the reefs. Where is the best snorkeling? Also, if you see Villa Cielomar, let me know how it is and how the view looks from there. How far is it from the car ferry? We will be staying there in June.

Have a great time! My son will get a kick out of your Flat Stanley pictures. Looking forward to your trip report!

ATG - Have a wonderful trip down. And a marvelous time while on island. I'm slowly counting down my days.

If you happen to eat at Satyamuna, which is a new vegetarian restaurant in Cruz Bay, would you let me know how they are doing? They've just recently opened. And of course, if you eat at Sweet Plaintains out in Coral Bay, let me know how they are doing, too. Thnx!!

Safe travels!!!

Hi Sea-Nile,

I didn't see Villa Cielomar but if it is part of Villa Caribe it was just across the street from where we stayed at Villa Bouganvillea.

Couldn't really tell how the view was as we could only see the street side of the building. but, you are a short drive from the ferry dock; the villa's are around the corner and up the hill from Gallow's point. An easy walk to town (down hill) and not too bad coming back, as long as you're not carrying a ton of stuff.

have a wonderful trip,

ATG - Have a completely wonderful time! I don't have any special requests, but I'd like to offer to give Flat Stanley a tour of Southern California when you get back. If you're interested, drop me an e-mail at margo.gripp@cox.net :D

Thanks everyone!
OK...
Reefs, check
Satyamuna, check
Sweet Plaintains, check
Villa Cielomar - where is this located?

As for Flat Stanley, I'm really worried he's gonna get destroyed or something, he's not laminated. I think I'll put him in a zip lock and get a picture of him floating in the water at my favorite beach, Solomon....

Hey, California Girl, thanks for the offer, I'll ask my friend at work when I get back!

Villa Cielomar is in Cruz Bay and I think it is near Lavendar suites. If you happen to see it, just let me know what you think. Have a great time!

I use "Flat Stanley" with my children....I take their pictures with & just throw that in the ocean, then tell them that they were there....without even having to spend the money to take them along!!

I've never heard of the travelling Flat Stanley. But some of you who enjoy this type of "travelling partner", might want to check out the above link and see what someone developed with a travelling bear.
