Ruth @ St John Spice: Need anything from New England?
Hey Ruth!
You've been so kind to all of us forumites:
taking web cam pictures,
offering advice,
compiling the restaurant closing list,
updates on new stuff in Cruz Bay,
...that I'd be more than happy to bring something down to you when we arrive on STJ 12/2/06.
I remember you mentioning that you are from the New England area so is there anything you miss or need or want?
Some real Vermont Maple Syrup? A few whoopie pies?
I'd pack up some fried clams but I don't think they'd travel very well
.
I don't think I can do anything perishable cuz we are spending a night in STT when we land but...please, ask away and I can see what I can do.
HAPPY Thanksgiving to Ruth and to everyone on this board.
10 days to go!

They'd probably make you pay for an extra seat, and ask you for his passport and then you'd have to explain why he couldn't do an impromptu concert on the plane! That's a very lifelike "poster" you have there!sitter wrote:

Can you picture me on the plane with that!!

Ok, Ruth. I thought I'd offer just in case you were jonesing for something during the holiday season.
Sitter: A Whoopie Pie is a heavenly snack cake made with devil's food cake and frosting. They originated in Maine and are also called Moon Pies (I think).

I LOVE Whoopie Pies. Homemade ones are sold all over the place here and the best ones are in the old country stores up in Maine (the "real" country stores, not the ones that were built to look quaint) and are made in small batches by "that old lady".

The fried clams I'd be picking up for Ruth would be from The Clam Shack in Ipswich. THE BEST fried clams I've ever had.
Pardon me, Waterguy, but "S-N-O-W" is a four-letter word 'round these parts!
At least, it is for the non-skiers...that which I am.
I tell ya' it feels like it could snow today.
We got a 3 foot storm last year the night before we left for STJ. After we got home, we invested in a snowblower and it barely snowed the rest of the winter.
Go figure.

snowmobile
We have had snowmobiles for 20 years. Usually when we get new ones, it stops snowing!
I'd give it all up to move to STJ though. I could always visit Northern WI in Jan to snowmobile (Nah!)
