Dear Flip Flop,
Thanks for the tip about Island Blues. It sounds like my kind of place when we have the grandkids in tow. Haven't seen it mentioned before. With the help of the forum I'm sure I will impress my family with my island knowledge.

Hey CAGirl...I almost missed your question, sorry. I got that floatie at walmart back in the summer. It was cheap and perfect! We left all that stuff behind for the next family who needed it. We always do.

flip flop, I have been following your pre and post trip write ups....they are awesome. We have been to St.John about 5 times now...but on the 13th we are headed to Cinnamon Bay WITH KIDS for the first time. We stayed there before kids and had a blast....we got really good airfare and decided to throw the hat over the wall and do this with kids...for 5 days.

I have a 4 year old girl and a 3 year old boy.....any good kid friendly restaurants or places to go? We'd love to do Woody's (LOL) and the beach bar....but we are probably forgetting some places....it's been 4 years since we've been!

so excited, and a bit anxious/neurotic about planning on how to feed my kids!

Hey Holly

Not to worry there are plenty of options on STJ. First of all I had to get over the guilt of feeding my 5 y o the same lunch just about every day. The girl loves her PB&J and the price was right.

As for dining out any of the following are kid friendly:

Cruz Bay - Banana Deck, Beach Bar (though I have heard it can be slow), Rhumblines, the Lime Inn, and JJ's. I am sure there are others I can't think of

Coral Bay - Skinny legs, Island Blues, Shipwreck Landing, Miss Lucy's.

St. John in general is extremely casual and we never had any issues with any one regarding our kids. I like to think they are pretty well behaved, but they are kids. We never had anything but positive attention!

Here is a great map of Cruz Bay with some options http://www.varlack-ventures.com/vvfiles ... dining.htm. (its a bit dated but mostly still accurate - Duffy's is gone, Panini is gone, the Mongoose Restaurant is now Ocean Grill etc).

Also Ronnie's pizza is a great choice if you don't want to cook one night but want something at the house. We also do take-out from Uncle Joe's at least 1 night.

The only place I wouldn't take the kids would be Zozos.

your reports are great! we slightly overlapped with your trip - which is funny because we're from dc too :-) we missed zozo's this time, which made me sad since we had our wedding reception there. thanks for posting this - with pics! they are truly yummy.
