Two Weeks in Paradise Days 6,7, 8 & 9
Sorry for the interruption, now back to the regularly scheduled programming.
Day 6 October 25th, Thursday-

DadB stopped the day before and spoke with the "tour guide" at the booth near St John spice. He signed us up to listen to the Westin's time share presentation.
So off we go begrudgingly to listen to the schpeel that was supposed to last for 1.5 hours but it lasted for 3! We were so hungry by the time we broke free (that is the goal is it not, to wear you down?). In all fairness, the time shares are nice. To own one is to have some power in the time share interchange, not that you would want to trade your week on ST John for a week somewhere else. DadB tried to swap in to St John and could not find a week where he could. We all just went for the $150 vouchers and "free lunch".
Finally out of there we met up with Kellee and Brad at Honeymoon beach. We had a good time talking in the water and drinking beer.
Little fish were surrounding our feet.
Mmmmmmm.....feet

Kelle brought up the name Marion Berry. Being from the northeast all MrB and I could think of was Marion Barry and laugh.
I think she was getting frustrated with me.
'I said Berry you idiot!'

Sorry Kellee, too many beers. After enough pickling and pruning at Honeymoon we went our separate ways and had dinner. We went to Morgan's Mango for dinner, and after raving about what a great dinner we had last year we were sorely disappointed. Any fried food we ordered tasted like old grease (the conch fritters, calamari and the coconut shrimp). Three of us had the special- a steak with crab meat on top drenched in a very spicy sauce. None of us could finish it. It was too spicy for our tastes and certainly not worth $40 per plate. At least we paid for it with the vouchers.
Mom & DadB (before dinner)

MR & MrsB (before dinner)

We walked over towards the Quiet Mon and saw Kellee & Brad eating at La Tapa. They came upstairs afterwards. No bartender Kenny this night but we had fun getting to know each other, even though Kellee kept forcing drinks on me !
And then...the rain came.
Day 7 October 26th, Friday- Total Wash Out!
Napped, hung around the villa then went into Cruz bay for lunch at High Tide (did not want to eat here, first place we could duck out of the downpour- food just so-so and pricey for what you could get elsewhere) and shopping. Back to villa and more rain.

Serious thunder and lightening all night. The thunder was so loud it made me jump and I'm not usually afraid of thunder. The thunder was hitting all the valleys and echoing in succession making it sound like things were blowing up. The pool was overflowing.
We were also without hot water since yesterday. Dumb me thought that the solar panels were the only source of our hot water. By Monday when the sun came out we finally called and it turns out a circuit breaker was broken. Days of super short showers and washing my hair in the sink so I would not freeze were all for naught. DUH!
And... St Thomas was reporting record lows. Sixty eight degrees, the lowest since the 1970's. I did not bring anything really warm either. I think this is the day of Kellee's accident too. She texted us after it happened and we were just in shock. Thank goodness everyone was ok. The roads had to be flooding.
Day 8 October 27th, Saturday- Another rainy day. Today was the day Mom & Dad B had to leave. It was unfortunate that their last two days were wash outs. We went to the Westin for breakfast. Extremely pricey (but hey, they were paying)- about $80+ tip for the four of us. It was good and I finally had sausage gravy with sausage in it. There were some couples coming in off the Westin ferry to attend a wedding. Shame it is raining so bad. Just as we were dropping the parents off at the ferry- downpour, so quick goodbyes. We later rang up RickG and he said both Kennys were at the Quiet Mon. Take that all you KC fans (hee hee) We just missed our favorite bartender Kenny as his shift had just ended. Coming back down the stairs Kellee recognized NascarFan & Becky at Woody's. We sat for a little while and had drinks with them. I ordered some beer battered shrimp and I think all that greasy food was making me sick. We heard RickG's group went to Rhumblines for dinner. We decided we needed to eat so we walked over there and met the group. They were finished and instead of eating like we should have we followed them to the beach bar. Great music, more beer and then I realized (second duh moment and a mortifying one)that the cover up I was wearing was completely see through! I just sat back down on the bar stool and tried to keep a low profile.
Big Red & Becky

Big Red, Pat & Janet

Rick & Christine

John & Kellee

Amy (me) & John (MrB)

After a few hours and a few more beers

Kellee and I decided to try and write Bandit in the sand in front of the webcam. We both wrote it quite illegibly and CAgirl caught us on camera- forgot about the time difference as we assumed we would be sneaky and no one would be up and looking. Still raining....
DAY 9 OCTOBER 28TH, SUNDAY- More rain- it's getting really old now. Still no hot water for showers. We hung around the villa. Our big outing today was to Pine Peace market for laundry detergent, eggs and paper towels. We arrived at the beach bar around 4:30. We met Gene & Irene, Randy & Marcia and we asked about their villas on island. Randy is almost done. We me Kirk who lives there. RickG, Christine, Big Red, Becky, Pat, Janet, Kelle, Brad, Ruth. Jeff from On-St John and he had his video equipment and interviewed the whole crew about St John and what keeps bringing us back. Oh- we are going to be famous
We had a great time and everyone is so nice.
Big Red made a new friend
We don't know who this is or what she was trying to do but it was fun to watch the spectacle.

Jeff made a nice comment to me before we left. Thank you Jeff. We invited Kellee and Brad back for steaks at the villa and some hot tubbing. Not much else we can do when it rains here. Kellee and Brad show up with actual groceries. They brought so much stuff it was comical. We were just laughing as she pulls out lunch meats, condiments, rum, bread, cheeses.... She said they did not want to be rude and show up empty handed. No, I think it was quite the opposite. The baked brie was awesome. Had a great time!

Mrsb, How fun! It brings back great memories. Haven't written a report yet, but will some day. Hope all is well with ya'll.
FYI...for others wondering...Marion Berry is a congressman in Arkansas.
Flip Flop, Polka dot koozie with a cute embroidered "K" on it!
Sorry this is short...Lil' kellyanna has become a very demanding 2 year old. Wearing me out.

I couldn't help but laugh at this. My uncle sent us some Marionberry Jam one year for Christmas! All I could think of was Marion Barry too! LOL!kellyanna wrote:FYI...for others wondering...Marion Berry is a congressman in Arkansas.
