Forum Gathering @ Skinny's

Post by Jan&MikeVa »

Does anyone know when the forumites are gathering at Skinny's in a couple of weeks??

BillinVa WHERE ARE YOU?? (I think you're away this weekend). We don't leave until next Saturday night, hopefully someone will let us know by then. NO computer on island for me.

I can already feel the warm sunshine, the cool resfreshing water. Yeah, I think there's a turtle calling for me..............

I belive he is doing a get together for Tuesday Nov 28th at Skinny's. I don't get in untill Dec 02 so we will probably just meet up at the Beach Bar at happy hour one day.

Hey Eric

I think that Bill & I are the only forumites on Island on the 28th. Maybe we can figure out a better time,

We are already planning to do the Jazz thing at the Beach Bar Sunday 12/3 w/Bill & Sandie. Maybe we could all meet up then. I think some others are on Island too. I think the Jazz thing is from 4 to 7 or something like that.

Our 4th trip to STJ and we've yet to make the Beach Bar @ sunset, how embarassing!!

Hope to hook up with you guys

Jan - don't feel bad. I am so ashamed to admit this.....this will be our 7th trip to St. John and....Oh, I just can't say it.....well.....we've never been to the Beach Bar at all!

There, I've said it. I am outed. Truth is, we've tried to go a couple of times, but it's always so crowded, we can't find anywhere to sit and we just end up leaving. I want to go this time for the Sunday Jazz. Any tips from you more experienced Beach Bar-goers......how does one get a seat?????

Hi All,

Haha - well, in 5 trips to St. John I have enough trips to the Beach Bar to cover you; however, we've never had a drink at Woody's. Meant to this last time, but never made it.

The Sunday jazz is ~4-7pm; it was pretty crowded last Sunday.

enjoy,

Hey Vicki,

Will you guys be on island Sunday the 3rd?? I don't know about getting a seat, but I'm with you.....every time we try to go it's too crowded.

BillinVa will fill us in, I'm thinking he and Sandie are out of town this weekend. Seems to me I've heard him talk about getting to the beach bar early or at a certain time to get a seat "on the rail" :?. The first time on STJ we tried went to a forumite gathering but ended up leaving. It was very crowded and unusually hot and humid that night.

Everyone says the jazz fest is really good, and like Jayseadee said it was crowded last Sunday. Maybe I'll bring my "neat sheet" and sit on the beach!

Skinnys deal for "Howie"

Post by Bill in Va »

Yo troops. Just got back from the lake house. I see that we may want to change to another date. How about Sunday the 3rd at Skinny's then wind up at the jazz at the Beach Bar? Your thoughts and who could make it that day instead of the 28th??? God bless...Bill

Bill, Eric - count us in!!

Bill, we'll have to work some of the details out. We're staying in Coral Bay but have to check out that morning over in Cruz Bay, not sure about the jeep yet. Even if we can't make Skinny's we'll do the beach bar for sure! Just need to be able to drop by your place before returning the jeep.

I'll give you guys a call this week anyway, sending an email to you about Sunday night's dinner.

See you soon! Looking forward to the forum gathering and meeting some of you folks!!!

Two suggestions:
1) Get there early
OR
2) Bring the beach chairs from your villa, sit on the beach and just run up to the bar for Beach Bar cocktails.
Enjoy!

Okay, I feel so STUPID because it's so obvious and I never thought of it....bring your own chairs and sit on the beach! GREAT idea. We will be on island on Sunday, 12/3, and I will do everything I can to get my crew over to the Beach Bar that evening. I will be coordinating with my anti-social husband, my kooky parents, and the Mother-in-Law , so it may be hard to corral them all if they get their own ideas about what to do....but I will do my best!

Howie tribute

Post by Bill in Va »

Hey folks. Would it be a lot easier if we just met at the Beach Bar on the 3rd for Jazz time to honor our friend Howie? I know I will be at Skinny's a few times to ring the bell during our two weeks. This way we have a day to be with friends and family and have a nice way to honor our forum buddy and meet each other. Your thoughts....God bless...Bill

Works for me Bill. We hit the Beach Bar anyway and Skinny's. Howie's bell wasn't there the last time I was there in 03 but I'll give it a jingle this time out.

11 days to footsies in the sand.
