Interesting brain coral close to shore at Trunk Bay

Post by Iguanaeddie »

If you go straight when you enter Trunk Bay after paying the entrance fee you will enter the beach where there are metal stakes in the sand saying no lifeguards to the left. About 35 to 50 yards from shore, directly out from the metal stakes in the sand, is a large brain coral all by itself. You can actually see its shadow from the beach. There are hundreds of small fish around the brain coral, almost like a halo. When these small fish get spooked they all instantly dart back closer to the brain coral.
I found it interesting to just hang over it and watch the activity of the many small fish.

Ed....thank you so much for great little tips like this one; especially for us newbies who don't know yet where "everything is"!!

Anyone else have any tips to where some fun & interesting "finds" are to be found?
