Trip Report
Trip Report
Trying to get my thoughts together for an appropriate trip report for this forum
Have to say that we had a great time!!
Everything worked out well. We had pretty good weather (alot cooler then when we went in May).
I think the biggest highlight of this trip was renting from Noah's Little Arks for 1/2 day. Taking that dinghy out to Waterlemon and to Hawksnest is so much fun!! Seeing the islands from the water is a must. Just gorgeous.
Also, FINALLY met St. John Ruth. It took me 3 times, but I did it. Great store Ruth and already used my garlic pepper spice last night.
More to come including pictures when I figure this out.

Connie,
I think seeing the Islands from the water is the very best way to see them. Also, all the talk about mosquitos, when you are on a boat in the breeze, there are no bugs. Take it from the Bug Magnet.
I get bitten so bad, that I can't go to Foxy's, ever. I've tried during the day, after dusk, during the day with Deep Woods Off, nothing works, I just can't go there.
Anyway, a boating vacation is the bomb

Hi Connie,
I think you should write about your whole trip, not just the St. John part. I know you stayed on St. Thomas, but lots of people on this forum like St. Thomas too!
I'm looking forward to reading your report whatever you decide!

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
HI everybody! I've been lurking here for a few weeks now but don't really say too much. I've asked a few questions and everyone's been very helpful.
We're heading back to St John for our 2nd trip in April and now that I've booked my trip, I'm addicted to this board. I love it! I should be cleaning but here I am at my computer reading away. Anyway, we also rented a dingy last November when we were there for our 1st trip. I loved everyghing about that trip but that was definately the hightlight for me. There were 6 of us last year and we had such a great time on the dingy. I would definately recommend doing it for anyone who goes to St John. We will be doing that trip again next year.
I have some pics from our dingy but I haven't figured out how to post pics yet. If I figure it out, I'll get them on.

Scuba Girl has it right. Now that you have done the dinghy its time to charter the boat.ScubaGirl wrote:Connie,

As much as I love the islands and will got at the drop of a hat. A week long charter is a another whole level of zen. Sitting in cove on the hook at night with no lights and stars so bright you can touch them. Then the next night anchoring someplace you can go ashore and party, either way its something that everyone should experience.

Pianogirl.....The only thing I was looking out for was the waves from the ferry. No problem, just get away from them.Pianogrl wrote:Thanks for mentioning about the dinghy rental. We were thinking about taking one out also. Anything you encountered operating a dinghy we should be aware of? Sounds like so much fun!
There's also a part that we had to go through, after Maho and before Waterlemon that was a little rough. Kind of bounced around alot, but I was never nervous about it.

CC....yes I did and both Rockworks and Stoneworks are beautiful. Gorgeous furniture, artistic work that is amazing. Nice breezes up there and a beautiful view. It's just really nice and both Sherri and Jeff are very nice people. Was nice to see themCalifornia Girl wrote:Hi Connie - Like Liamsaunt said, I hope you report on STT, too. Sherri posted that she saw you, did you see her villa Rockworks?

Actually? none at all. We own a 18 foot fishing boat in NJ, but we were never asked if we had any experience. We had to watch a short video before we could get in the boat, but that was about it.kijoto wrote:Looking forward to your trip report Connie!![]()
Can you tell me exactly what kind of boating experience you have to have (if any) to rent a dinghy?
Thanks!
I mean this.....the hardest part for me was getting back into the dingly mostly because I was laughing so hard that I couldn't get any strength at all.
