Trip report - short and sweet
This report is mostly about our trip to STT. Just wanted to start out that way in case some people aren't interested. A little STJ thrown in there, but boy.....does a week go by fast.
The highlights:
We stayed at Sapphire. This was our second time there. We had a good unit on the beach and it only cost $630.00! Gorgeous view and easy snorkeling on the beach there. We have friends that live there and one of them works at the Westin on STJ at the watersports. Say hi to Gib if you ever see him there! His wife is a dental hygienist on STJ and just got a sweet job on a luxury yacht as a mate. We hung out with them alot and their friends who work around the islands. Learned alot from these people. Things I would never have known.
The best thing we did all week was on my husbands birthday. I rented a Noah's Little Ark for 1/2 day. We immedietly set sail for Waterlemon.....not an easy fine for us since we didn't really know where we were going. The views are to die for!!!! The only way we knew we were at Waterlemon is when we moored and 2 snorkelers came straight for us....I asked if they were pirates and they said "no" we need a rest, can we hang onto your dinghy??? These people were having a hard time, even with flippers. We decided at that point that we even needed our vest. Snorkeling there is really good. We saw rays, and I got so close to a turtle, I could of rode him.
Getting back into the dinghy is a little challenging to say the least. I had a hard time the first time. I didn't want to stand on the motor (which was suggested. The second time worked out better. After we left Waterlemon we ran over to Hawksnest and ran the dinghy up to shore...WOW....this beach is just beautiful.
We were able to catch up with Ruth at St. John Spice. I highly recommend this store. Great spices and really nice shopping in there.
There was only one other time we got over to STJ and that was for shopping one night. We got off the 6 pm ferry, but was called about an hour later to get back to STJ, to meet friends. Back on the 8 pm ferry.
Unfortunetly, the tide was high that day and I wanted to write in the sand, but I was sure nobody would see it.
Linqvist Beach on STT is a beautiful beach. Quiet and secluded. You can only get to it by going through a chain link fence and going over a challenging muddy road, but very worth it.
Lattitude 18, Molly Mallones, Blue Moon Cafe - All on the water with all good reasonably priced meals. They usually have music and a great bunch of people.
Mountaintop....just go up for the ride and the view. You can see forever up there and while you're there, grab youself ONLY 1 Banana Daiquiri...they're potent.
I think once you're to the VI's, you're hooked. The views are breathtaking, the water is clean and clear...the colors just draw you in. It's so relaxing to be down there, just relaxing. I hated to come back to this wet, cold weather.
We'll be back soon. We're hoping to rent the Villa in Mahogany Run that 9 of us were at last May. There were some problems with this Villa and the owner has changed EVERYTHING. It's absolutely gorgeous now and has a view (of what I believe) is Thatch Cay?? It's called Oceancliff now and no detail has been left out.
The only things that we didn't get to do was drive out to Coral Bay and get to Paradise Point on STT for the sunset. That night there were 7 ships in port and we had plenty of time to get there, but we got stuck in the worse traffic I have ever seen on STT. We were in the car for 2 hours before we were able to get back to Red Hook for dinner. Lesson learned.
Anyway...I'll try to get some pictures up, but I did promise a trip report.

Thanks Connie hope your hubby also got a little THAT for his B DAY. Thanks for the info on Saphire is that a typical price for a condo and what is the name of the place. Always thought Saphire would be a great place to stay on STT. Going to have to rent a dingy to see the island from a different perspective. Glad ya had a great time.

Glad you had a good time. Hope you were able to spend some time with Sherri - she is a such a great person! Glad you got to Lindqvist - that's my favorite STT beach. Like you said, well worth the trip down the muddy potholed road. I think the view from Ocean Cliff villa may be of Hans Lollick.
