A Newbie Meets STJ - Day Four
A Newbie Meets STJ - Day Four
Ok sailorgirl, here ya go! Sorry this is late, but you'll see why...
Day four, day four, day four. What the heck happened on day four? Um, lemme see. We got our limin' on. Big time. It was a bit overcast, but I don't think it ever rained at all. We woke up with a goal... heavy duty limin'. We set our sights on that mission. We kept our eyes on the prize (total relaxation). People, we took the gold medal in limin' that day.
I got up, and went directly to the deck. Pop-Tart-and-gecko time. Blissin'-out-to-the-view time. Reading-a-book, time. Chillin'-out time. Hub soon followed. He spent his mornin' noshin', gazin', and playing his Zelda game (he's a big kid, as am I). In other words, it was a very good morning.
Before we knew it, it was time for to actually leave the villa. OK, it wasn't time. It's never *really* time when you are full-out limin'. However nothing in the refrigerator was calling to us. We headed on out, with me faithfully applying the Skin So Soft spray (with sunscreen). I'll have to talk about my impressions of that at the end of the trip report.
We drove down to the crossroad with the signs that said which restaurant was where. God forbid we ever researched beforehand and looked at a map. I told the hubby that I'd read good things about Sweet Plantains, so we headed back where we'd come from (of course it was in the opposite direction). We drove and found it, and discovered it was closed. Hubby was sure it hadn't been open in ages, but then I remembered that since this was off season some places might not be open (I'm nothing, if not quick!). So we headed back to the signs and in the direction of the Donkey Diner, for some of their fabulous pizza I'd read about (Day Four was a Tuesday). Do you see where this is going? Donkey Diner was open, but alas, no pizza on Tuesdays (or food for that matter). I found both gentlemen there extremely friendly and helpful. One called Shipwreck's (sp ?) to make sure that it was open. It was. Hurrah! We thanked him and said we'd be back for the pizza another day, for sure. On we drove (again back in the direction we'd come from...) to Shipwreck's.
Hubby got the grouper special, and I got the fish and chips. Both were delicious. I got my first taste of a limein' coconut, and hubby stuck with the painkiller (he LOVED them - I was surprised how much, actually). I really liked Shipwreck's. The woman who waited on us was very friendly, as was the bartender (she actually said 'Let me know if there's enough rum in that drink or not; I think you might need more'). The waitress/manager (?) suggested ideas for getting to Jost, which we investigated after lunch (oh yeah, it's all coming back to me now).
We enjoyed a leisurely lunch, with a few drinks, then went and checked out the stores nearby. We decided to do a bit of driving, and find Connections. We found it, but discovered there weren't any boats leaving from Coral Bay that they knew of, and we should check the Connections in Cruz Bay. We decided to wait on that, because we were sleepy...(from what, I have no idea). We went back home, took a dip (wink wink), and then commenced with the limin'. We ended up eating dinner (light stuff because we were still full from lunch) at the villa. Another early night. Another great day in paradise, doing absolutely nothing. Viva St. John!
I promise day five is more exciting!

Thanks! Sorry we were being pushy but some of us live through the trip reports. They help us get through to our own trips. So glad you got to do plenty of limin, that is what vacation should be all about. I am so psyched that next May my sisters will be joining us for the first time. One is a Jersey girl and much in need of a nice vaca. Thanks again! Looking forward to the rest. Have a good one!
