getting my things together

Post by naturegirl »

OK, my mail order products are being delivered. So far my ebag carryons, gorilla pod, aquapac wallet and drybag have arrived. My husband just picked up a lightweight tripod from B&H (for sunset pictures at the villa) and the underwater housing for our canon s200 which is very cool! Also, got a pair of keen sandals with toeguard on sale for 1/2 price at the local Ramsey Outdoor outlet and a pair of tevas with toe guard as well and 2 pairs of chaco flip flops for twenty bucks. Thanks all for the recommendations on these and other products. Still to come: shade cabana and that's about it!

Nature Girl,
I had to talk you into buying something else, but. In your other post about hiking and snorkling you mentioned carryinng your flippers while hiking. You may want to look into a lightweight diving/snorkling backpack. Preferably one that will mash down to nothing for shipping. If they are set up right they will have fin pockets. You can find some that are made for two sets so you can make hubby carry that while you take the drybag. Just a thought.

I bought Deb's new regulators from this sight last Christmas.

PS one of the mesh style bags would do fine.

captj-That was a very cool site but I'm pretty much done with the shopping. I have to save some money for the vaca! Anyway, we do have a large mesh duffel bag that we bought when we bought our snorkel gear a few years back. I would prefer a backpack but this will work fine for now. Has room for towels, and other beachstuff too. Thanks for your suggestion though, I will keep this link in my favorites. Maybe next year.

Are you getting psyched for vacation yet? I'm interviewing petsitters now. I hate to leave the puppy home. Wish I could take her with us.

Yes,
I am ready to go now. I spent all weekend cleaning up the boat and hauling it out of the water, that kept my mind off of it for a little while. I sold the boat to a guy in New Orleans he is comming to get it this weekend so I have to finish up a few odds and ends on it.
Yesterday a friend of mine that is a charter boat captain in St Thomas called me he thought he was going to be down island while we are there and I wasn't going to get to see him, but when he called yesterday the plans had changed so he will be around. There goes my DIF, when he first called he wanted to know if I could come down two weeks early and help move the boat to the Caymans, of course I said yes. Well he called back later and the owner changed his mind so there goes the two weeks to the Caymans so I guess I will have to settle for a week in the Virgins.

Oh! So close, Jay. Well, somethings are just not meant to be. On the other hand, that will make St John even more special. No, who am I kidding, it would be nice to have 3 weeks in paradise versus one. By the way, what kind of beer/liquor do you guys want us to pick up for the trip? What about snacks? We will be more than happy to have that all ready to go when we meet you at the dock. :D

Nature Girl,
I will have to check with Deb to see what see is thinking drink wise on the boat. We probably should email Capt Josh or John and see what they think of bottles versus cans for beer. Glass storage on most boats is an issue. That being said beer choices in cans will be limited. My experience with american beer down there is the canned ones tend to task skunky due to high temps during shipping and storage. If he doesn't mind bottles then I would say carib or red stripe. If we are going cans then we will just have to figure out whats available. It looks like they have water and soda handled.
