Pia,

Please have your vet check for vitamin D poisoning (aka vit. D overdose). It happens to dogs and cats. Happened to one of our cats.

He had some of the symptoms of kidney disease, was not eating *but* was not losing weight.

Water under the skin a couple of times helped flush his kidneys.

After that, the recovery is spontaneous (nothing you can do but try to hand feed the baby. Try baby food. and if there's a Boston Chicken there, I've heard very sick dogs will respond to that), although slow.

Vit D poisoning comes from a problem at the factory.

Check on line the food you've been giving her and see if the plant has an alert.

Best wishes,

Cat that sounds horrible! Pia I hope it isn't that but at this point I am sure just knowing what it is would make it better! For me it is always not knowing that is the worst part of any situation! Once you know you can deal with it!

You guys are in my prayers!

Oh, and Pia, get some completely NEW dog food. Both because you don't want her to possibly ingest more vit D excess and for the novelty of smell that might get her to eat.

My cat responded to Purina indoor cat formula. He'd eat seven tiny cruchies at a time, once an hour.

See if the pet store carries freeze-dried chicken bits. It's in a small plastic jar, called Liv-A-Little. My cat would eat these, too, when he wouldn't look at anything else.

Pia...I have a cat named Tiki and I hope that your dog is doing better....thinking about you both.

I have a cat that I have to put to sleep tomorrow. She's 16, but she's not doing well at all.

I'd rather do it now then worry about not being around when I go to the islands. It's just horrible to lose a pet.

Pia...wishing you the best...I feel for you!
