Thanks all for the great suggestions! I am getting ready to clear out of the office to go home and start packing. We intend to get moving first thing in the morning to make the most out of Thursday "down the shore."

I am sure we will hit Sea Isle for the Octoberfest and I know we will be on the beach as much as possible.

I printed off the most recent version of your suggestions to read aloud to hubs as we make our way down the turnpike.

Does Chester's still exist?
Also, Voltacos is familiar but I can't place it. Where is this

Chester's is still on RT 9 near the Burger King. Run by the same woman, but Chester's family has not owned it since the 80's.
Voltaco's is a takeout place on 9th and West, 2nd business from corner but closer to 10th street side It is known for Italian hoagies and their pans of lasagna. Joe Taccarino has taken over the business from his mother and they are a local favorite. I just dislike that they close now until March. A lot of families like Piccini's for Italian food and pizza which is located at 14th and west next to the Wawa.
Its nice to talk about OC and I will always call OC home but its almost cheaper to vacation in St John.

We are back and had a wonderful weekend. The weather was surprisingly warm and we hit the beach everyday.

I was shocked at how few places were open. Yes, I was warned but not even a sub shop to pick up sandwiches? (we stayed all the way down at 56th)

We ate at:

Deauville Inn - fine for what it cost. We were one of three tables that night and the waitresses seemed thrilled to see us.

Princeton (Avalon) - very nice lunch. Neat place.

Inlet (Somers Point) - very good dinner. We would re-visit this restaurant.

Our best meal was home-cooked. We stopped at the Lobster House on the way back to OC and picked up lobsters, stone crabs, clams, etc. and feasted that evening. I have never seen such a large seafood market.
