OT: Cruise w/STT Stop. STJ...to be or not to be?

Post by chrisn »

I am seriously having STJ withdrawals. June seems like a lifetime away! I thought our jaunt to Cali would take the edge off...umm, no.

So now the parentals have roped us into being Sheeple on this Princess cruise with them and my sister and BIL in March. Honey likes cruises which are not my favorite thing but I'm sure it will be fun and I will make the best of it.

We will be docked from 7:00-6:00. I am torn between whether to steer clear of STJ because we will be there in June, or high tail it over there for a quick fix. I think I'm gonna be depressed either way. Not going, I'll feel like something is missing and going for a few hours might make matters worse. My sister's never been to STJ or on a cruise and was thinking about doing the cat to Honeymoon. We could do that. Honeymoon is is a personal favorite of mine...oh hell, who am I kidding? They're all faves!

At least I only have to wait 2 months for 2 weeks in the VI's after the cruise and it will have been 2 years so I think it's been a long time coming baby!

Any advice? What would you do?

We had the same issues in 2006. We went with another couple since the cruise was such as awesome deal. We actually rented a captained boat to take us to STJ snorkeing and the JVD for the day. It, of course, was the highlight of the whole cruise! At any rate, just an idea to give the rest of people with you a very quick introduction to the VI's...

Hi,

If you don't want to shop in STT, then you should go to STJ. The STT beaches will be very crowded.

There will be plenty of taxi's at the ship to get you to RH for the ferry. Once there you could rent a car or just taxi to one of the beaches.

We went over from a cruise a few years ago. We had plenty of time to get some snorkeling in (went to Trunk - not nearly as crowded as you'd think), shopped in Cruz Bay and had a couple of Bushwackers at the Beach Bar. Even had some time to do some shopping in Havensight before reboarding the ship.

enjoy,
janet

That is quite the dilemma - I totally understand. I think I would have to go to STJ, but I would have a heck of a time going back to the ship! At least you can claim "non-sheeple" status while there, and you know you'll be returning soon, so go ahead and whet your appetite. :)

Pia, that's cute, funny and so TRUE I'm sure!

A cruise is actually how we "discovered" St. John back in 2002. We went over on a daytrip and it was love at first sight.

My recommendation is to begin drinking heavily. Perhaps some Ambien for the amnesia effect. We will pray for you.

I would get off the boat, grab a taxi, get on the ferry, and head to the beach for a few hours.
Grab some lunch and head back to the ship.
A few hours of STJ is better than none.

BTW- we are looking at a cruise with a stop in STT aand I intend to head over for the day.
