Wow - Quote of the week
Pia said "I snorkel Maho, as you know, many times per week and there is one baracuda that I always see about 3 feet long that I have named Charlie (have no idea why), well, this Monday hubby and I were having a few hours relaxing on Maho after doing a whole bunch of housework and gardening, and I decided to have a casual snorkel (not my usual work out swim/snorkel) so I took off towards the rocks on the right side."
Snorkeling Maho many times a week...
a few hours relaxing on Maho after housework...
a casual snorkel...
usual work out swim/snorkel...
Sounds so wonderful! I would love to be able to do that some day. Thank you, Pia, for a little glimpse of living on St John.

Put yourself in Pia's shoes, I would find it tough to write what she did and not come off sounding... ...
Funny none the less. I suppose it's like "A bad day at work on St. John is better than a good day at work not on St. John"

just my 2 cents.
"Try to preserve nature where you live, not just where you visit"

Pia,
I totally get what your saying. The beauty of STJ is there for you to enjoy but in order to enjoy it, you must give up "certain" conveniences.
I think that most people take for granted how easy it is for us to drive 5 minutes to get anything we want. You on the other hand, have to take a day trip to STT just to get a bug lantern. It's a trade off.
If I were a betting girl, I would bet that most people who move to the island never make it because they can't get use to the lack of "conveniences". Am I right? I figure if Island life was so easy (snorkeling at Maho all day/every day) that everyone in the world would live there.
I read your and Ruth & Ron's posts with admiration. Not only because you live in the most beautiful place in the world but also because you've been able to shed away the materialistic world that most of us live in ~ AND SURVIVE!!
XOXO
