Finally June trip report part 8

Post by cat »

Thursday was villa day for Kenneth and I while Eliz and Jerry Went to Francis. I was really getting into my Harry Potter book and Kenneth wanted a day to work on his tan line!

We met at Island Blues for lunch. I really like the relaxed atmosphere there and how easy it is to park! I think that is why I prefer spending time in Coral Bay as opposed to Cruz Bay! Don't get me wrong; I love to shop so Cruz Bay got its fair share of visits! Jerry had a rib eye sandwich, Eliz had chicken, cheese and apple quesadilla Kenneth had an Italian sausage sandwich and I had shepherds pie.

Jerry and I had been driving all week and had had a few drinks so we decided to let Eliz and Kenneth drive over to Skinny's to shop a while. Back at the villa Kenneth and I had a few more cocktails and continued our relaxing while Eliz and Jerry headed for Maho again! When they got back we got dressed and headed to Ocean Grill for dinner! We are late eaters and were almost the only people in the restaurant! The food was very good! I forget what everything was called but I loved my lobster pizza! Here are pics of the meal.

Back to the villa and a few more cocktails before bed! This was a very relaxing day!

Friday was our last full day and there were still so many things I hadn't done! Kenneth and Jerry went to Chilly Billy's for breakfast while Eliz and I went shopping.

Image

We stopped by St John Spice one last time and headed to Freebird for Eliz and I to get petroglyph necklaces. I had gotten earrings earlier and needed to get a necklace to match! It sounded good anyway! :D

Once we had made our purchases we headed back to meet the guys at Chilly Billy's and I had toast and coffee while they finished up! After breakfast we split up and Kenneth and I headed to the north shore beaches to take a few pics while Eliz and Jerry headed back to the villa.

While we were at Francis we got a call from Eliz who wanted us to meet them at Shipwreck for lunch.

We were a little early so we drove past it and got to see Miss Lucy's. I wish I had thought to suggest eating there! Oh well! We headed back to Shipwreck and still a little early we shopped the stores around it. We found a beautiful picture of a hummingbird for Jerry. He really loves them! I loved the Hammock at Jolly Dog! It is amazing and I definitely didn't want to get out of it!

Image

After lunch it was back to the villa to change for Maho! Jerry and Eliz had been seeing so many great things I just had to see! Kenneth figured he had given his ears enough rest so off we went! I wish the water had been clearer but it was early evening so that didn't help! Still we saw a ton of fish and another nurse shark!

The only problem I had while we were there was a family that was snorkeling around from the campground side. They were swimming on top of me and kept kicking me with their fins! Next thing I know they are standing in the coral! I almost bit my tongue off trying to control my temper! Some people just really DON'T GET IT!!!!!!! Justice was served when a sea urchin stung one of them! I'm bad I know!

Kenneth and I had the rest of our leftovers for dinner and cocktails on the deck while Eliz and Jerry went to Aqua Bistro. We started packing before bed so we wouldn't have so much to do in the morning.

You're a better woman then I am, because I wouldn't be able to NOT say something. I've seen it too. Do they know how many years it takes for that coral to grow back, if it does?

Love the trip report and the pictures are beautiful.

Thanks for taking the time.

Gonna post my part of these days later today but I do have to say that those idiots at Maho were clueless. They were talking to some guy they knew in the water and all of the sudden the woman goes "Ouch something just stung me" as she brushed against a sea urchin on the rocks at the point. Then not two minutes later, her daughter did the same thing.

My question is, are those huge rocks at the point considered coral because this trip alof of people that had come over from Little Maho were standing or sitting on them. I am never sure if it's considered coral or not so I just don't touch ANYTHING. I figure stuff can grow on anything in the water so I stay away from it to prevent things from attaching and growing.

I enjoyed all your reports and your pics were beautiful. I really like the palm tree ones. I am into palm trees these days. Thanks for posting!

Don't you just want to smack people who stand on coral? :x

Freebird is a great store and owners were very nice to deal with. Bought several things there over the years, including Laramar necklace and earrings, gold Starfish to go on a chain, and my hubby bought several rocks of the Laramar from the mine. The rocks have different and very beautiful patterns and colors.

Rick, We will be in Cozumel the 10th through the 17th of October. Sorry but I would have loved another trip to St John!!! We will be in New Orleans for the first weekend of Jazz Fest though!

Everyone else! Thank you for reading all of these reports! I'm sorry they have been so spread out! It is going through the pics and trying to decide which ones to put in and which ones to leave out that is killing me! That and a ton of extra work from my real job!

One more to go and I hope to get through it soon! I have enjoyed reliving our trip though!

I have enjoyed your TR and pictures. You guys are inspiring me to get more "creative" with my picture taking. Those conch sure are ugly. I don't know how you folks can be so calm about sharks  . I'm a big wuss.
Going "home" again October 26th!

I think if I saw them swimming higher in the water it would freak me out too but all of the ones we saw were swimming along the bottom or just sitting on the bottom. The baracuda freaked me out for a little while but it really ignored us more than checked us out so no worries there either.
