Opening time at STT airport?

I am searching for flights and found a good fare with a 8:50am departure out of STT. Checking in three hours ahead of time would indicate we should be at the airport by 5:50 am.

Is the airport open for check in that early?

Has anyone left early out of STT and can offer info on their experience?

We have had an 8:30 am flight 9 times. You don't need to be there 3 hours in advance - you couldn't do it anyway because the first ferry is at 6:00. Just get their 2 hours ahead and you'll breeze through. The will start to get very bad behind you.

People are usually there to check you in by 5:45-6 AM but the doors to Customs and Immigration and TSA does not open until 6:30.

After much debate, we decided that flight was just too early for us. The $ we would have saved would have been eaten up by the extra private ferry surcharge for a pre-6am transfer.

Hmmmm....I have a 7 am flight out of St Thomas and TSA doesn't open until 6:30????
How's that gonna work?
