We're heading to St. John next April for what will be our 10th trip there. Got antsy and threw in a long weekend in December and staying at Palm Terrace. I can't for the life of me place the location of these condos and exactly how far of a walk it would be into town. If someone could give me a directions from Woody's that would be great! Thanks in advance.
There are two ways from Woody's, but the easiest to describe is you walk past Gallows Point and where the road bends to the left you go straight and down the hill and take the first left at the bottom and it's just a short way up that street on the right. The other way is to walk up the really steep hill that is almost opposite Woody's and then you turn right (not sure where as I never walk that way with them - it's also quieter and darker (imo) that way)
Not too bad of a walk - my family stays there when they all come to visit.
Pia, is there any noise from the desalination plant there (is it still in operation)? Also, is it very close to that body of water that is brown and just inland from Frank Bay?
There is no noise from the desal plant - but there is a rooster that likes to make noise starting about 4am - so bring ear plugs I don't remember if you can see the "pond" or not but there are houses right behind Palm Terrace so if you can see it it is blocked by them.
Here is the location with respect to the ferry dock in the upper center. This photo shows work on the new barge "port" so is probably 4 years old or so.
Thanks for the info! We normally rent villas and cars, but since we're doing only a 5 nighter we decided to stay close to town and see if it would be a pain to walk back and forth.
Pia,
Is that the rooster or the peacock?
When I trained Maryanne who owned that B&B over near Frank Bay there was a peacock.
Also my friend Patsy had a villa just up that hill you make a left off of after Gallows.
There's no $ sign on a peace of mind, this I've come to know
