Wives & Husbands out there - - need your help!
OK, so our family just got back last month from a VI trip, BUT in the spirit of planning the next trip
...
Just got an invite to stay at the Marriott STT for 5 days/4 nites for $399 total (must listen to 90 min spiel on timeshares) AND American flights are running $340/rt (which is also a kick a$$ price from STL). Now, the tough part, HOW DO I PRESENT THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO THE HUBBY AND CONVINCE HIM TO BOOK THE TRIP ??
Understanding that 1) we just put in a pool ($$) and having a big party for 50 people this weekend ($$), 2) we were just there, 3) he will realize just how addicted I am wanting to go back so soon (I say NO, NO, NO to rehab) and 4) he's a bit more "frugal" than I. Working on my side is 1) the price, 2) the opportunity for some "alone" time (no kids)
, 3) he does love the VI's ALMOST as much as I do.
Ideas??

The "no presents" for Christmas thing was done already last year with a ski trip to Winter Park. It ended up not working so well (as far as being less expensive), as Promoguy notes. Although we had a GREAT trip.
I'm liking the "book it" idea, just not sure I have the kahunas to ask for that kind of forgiveness. On the other hand, I'm sure I can think of SOMETHING to smooth it over

"Ksea, that "no present" pre arrangement deal doesn't really work. Trust me I know."
How true....wish I had a nickle for each time we used the old "no present" plan to justify doing what ever we wanted to do at the time.
I vote with the majority...just book it!
Good luck....mia

I think there is some misunderstanding here of the way the agreement works taking if from the male side. Remember girls we think think a bit differently.
She: Honey, I really have this great deal that would be a wonderful getaway for us both.
He: Yeah, tell me about it!!
She: --insert deal--
He: Sounds like a good deal. Let's work out the financials.
She: Sweetie, I already thought of that. Listen, you know a lot of time we really go overboard at the holiday time with the presents we get each other?? Well, let's do this. This will be our present to each other and we won't get each other anything for Christmas.
He: "thinking hmmm, I don't have to go shopping"
He: Okay, let's do it.
Fast forward to December 25th and the families opening presents with the warmth of a fireplace in the background.
She: Here sweetie. I know we said that we wouldn't get each other anything, but you're the greatest husband in the whole wide world and I just wanted you to know that with this present.
-know what's going through his mind-
He: -thinking- holy ****

LMAO Promoguy - will remember that in the future.
I am working on getting the SO back by talking about snorkeling all the time - especially night snorkeling cuz he wants to do that.
It helped for this past summer that Cat and hubby wanted to go - so I either need to get them to go back or find another couple or two interested
Oh, and I told Cat, I HAVE to go to Europe with him in the fall so I can get him to go back to STJ in the summer...lmao.

p.s. whenever there is underwater stuff or Caribbean stuff on TV, I make sure to put in on when he's around.
