Palm Villa - Gifft Hill
Okay I know I am being a pain in the neck but since Dream Catcher is no longer an option after 5 years we are looking for another house. (by the way we have been told Dream Catcher will be closed to rentals at some point for up-grading....we'll see how much they can do) Has anyone ever stayed at Palm Villa? The views look wonderful but the house seems very "closed up" in terms of windows etc. for an island home. Of course we spend very little time inside. Any thoughts? We are a party of 6 and like looking at Great Cruz Bay and beyond. Thanks for any help.
here's her post but she says Palm Hill so now I'm confused. I thought she was at Pallm Villa based on the photo she showed - red roof. Do I have the right place? Offered by Destination St. john?

Palm Hill is from DSJ. Sorry if I mislead you.

Hi Snorklequeen!
We are staying at Cloud 9 villa starting this Wednesday and I am pretty sure that Palm Villa is right next door. In fact, the house looks identical to C9 from the outside. I have heard the views are incredible on Gift Hill so any villa up there is a great choice especially if you love sunsets!
I'll check it out for you next week! Cheers~

sq,
bride and i stayed at c9 next door to palm in oct 05, dec o5 and jan 07. views are fabulous and we love the floor plan which is same except for 4th bdrm added to backside of palm and c9 has a much needed gazebo right off kitchen/living area for shade in afternoon. c9 also has ac in greatroom and loft that palm doesn't have. we used ac only in oct but bet it would be hotter than hades in summer. the views from the villas are better than the websites and no construction below (as of 1/20/07).
don't know about palm but no screens on doors at c9 but we still opened up every evening for the island feel (4doors fold back and even open kitchen to deck (check c9 floor plan on website).
leaving for couple days but will be happy to answer any questions re area etc when i return.

Been in Palm Villa but it has been since 2002. The thing I LOVED about Palm Villa was the deck. It was amazing. We almost stayed there this past time but ended up at Seawatch which we were happy with.
If you stay at Palm, you will probably spend the better part of your time on their deck. It does share a driveway with Cloud 9, and the next driveway is Seawatch.
The view from Palm is why I wanted to stay on Gifft Hill. I don't remember the bedrooms as having an awesome view but that wouldn't keep me from staying there.
Jan (Jan and Mike from VA) has stayed there two times and can tell you alot about it.

p.s. another couple in our group stayed at Cloud 9 when we were there that trip in 2002.

Thank you, thank you msgcolleen, papabou, and nothintolose!! you guys are great - great info. We are thinking C9 may be our choice, even though it looks like it maybe a bit older than Palm we love the idea of the gazebo because we do spend all out time outside. (We even love to sit out in the rain, under cover!)And the ac since we must go in July (school's out for me. We would still probably leave the doors to the house open and just try to create a "wall of bug spray" if necessary. Thank you again for all your insight.....I'll email Cloud9 villas this afternoon. Take care

Hey Snorkelqueen
We stayed at Palm Villa twice in 2004 and loved it! It was hard for us to move on to a different villa, but we made ourselves do it. It's still our favorite as far as the view goes!
You can look in the villa review section back in May of 04 and I give a very detailed review. You can also email me or PM me; I'd be happy to give you any info or pictures. The villa is not closed up at all, there are a lot of windows and doors. The view is prettier than the website, it's wide open!
Happy Planning, hope to hear from you!
