FYI-Snorkel Class
FYI-Snorkel Class
So the other day someone mentioned snorkel classes which I have to admit had never crossed my mind. We've all been snorkeling for about 7 years now and it never really occured to me that there may be quite a bit that we don't know.
I was mostly interested in having my 9 year old do the class even though he is the king of snorkel and a much better snorkeler than mom. I still wanted him to have the correct technique and knowledge. It makes me feel better if I know he is as proficient as he can be in the water.
So myself, my daughter and the little man took a two hour course yesterday at a local dive center. We had the pool all to ourselves so it really worked out great. We learned all about the different types of equipment, proper fit, and proper technique.
I have to say we did learn things that I did not know. I felt enlightened and thought it was time well spent. The course was also only $20 per person so I didn't think that was bad either.
My daughter still isn't too keen on the sport but since our snorkel gear has seen better days, we did pick out some really great gear that I hope will make the experience for her a little better.
I can't drag one little peep in and can't drag the other out. It's just my life! So now, he's ALL about the Discover Scuba class they offer.
. I give the kid an inch and he takes a mile! For his birthday, he asked for the indoor skydiving!
. How is it to be a chicken sh*t living with three adrenalin junkies? As long as I can keep my feet on the ground and my a$$ on the surface of the water, it's priceless!
ps, I've been wearing my mask too tight for 7 years!

re: snorkel class
I've always wanted to take a snorkel class. I love snorkeling, but sometimes get too much anxiety to enjoy it. Good luck finding one out here in the middle of no where colorado though

starlit, I live in BFE Utah. Despite what the instructor said, I don't think we have the market cornered in diving. Need I say more?
ps, my daughter the speed demon also gets anxiety while snorkeling. She's Evil Knevil so weird, I dunno??? Must just be a head under the water thing. I think the class and gear really helped.
