ST. THOMAS HEATS UP AS BOLONGO BAY BEACH RESORT HOSTS
23rd ANNUAL TEXAS SOCIETY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS CHILI COOK-OFF
-- Guests Enjoy Fifth Night Free During Cook-Off --

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (June 18, 2007) - Chili lovers can savor the taste of their favorite food, while supporting a good cause, as Bolongo Bay Beach Resort in St. Thomas once again welcomes the 23rd Annual Texas Society of The Virgin Islands Chili Cook-Off on Aug. 26, when more than 30 booths will compete for the grand prize -- a chance to compete in the final chili cook-off event held at Rancho CASI de los Chisos in Terlingua, Texas. This is the fifth time Bolongo will host this charity event.
"The chili cook-off has become one of Bolongo's most popular events with a good number of guests returning year after year who aren't even members of the Texas Society," said Paul Doumeng, general manager of Bolongo. "We enjoy hosting the cook-off each year because it helps raise money for various charities located throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands," Doumeng added.
The Chili Cook-Off is a CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International, Inc.) sanctioned event and will be judged according to strict CASI guidelines, including meat inspection and double blind judging on aroma, consistency, color, taste and aftertaste. In adherence to the rules, all chili must be made on premises at Bolongo Bay Beach Resort. For more information on CASI, visit www.chili.org.
For those who wish to experience the hottest event on St. Thomas, Bolongo will offer a fifth night free on the resort's European Plan (EP) with a minimum purchase of four nights at regular rates, based on double occupancy, with two of the nights being Aug. 25 and 26.
Bolongo's EP vacation includes accommodations in either an ocean view or beachfront room; a "discover scuba diving" in-pool lesson; complimentary use of non-motorized watersports (snorkel gear, paddle boats, sunfish sailboats, windsurfing equipment, kayaks and much more); and use of volleyball and tennis courts, plus equipment.
Nightly rates for Bolongo's EP option start at $214 per room plus 15% tax and service charges and $2 per day energy surcharges.
To take advantage of the fifth night free offer, guests must book their stay through Bolongo's on-island reservations department at 1-800-524-4746 or send an e-mail to reservations@bolongobay.com. The fifth night free promotion is not combinable with any other offer. Travelers are encouraged to book immediately as space is limited and expected to sell out fast.
Bolongo features 65 beach front rooms curved around crescent-shaped, palm-lined Bolongo Bay. Each room has a private balcony as well as many of the comforts of home including a mini-refrigerator, coffeemaker, ceiling fan, air-conditioning, color cable television, hair dryer, radio alarm clock, iron and ironing board, safe and telephone.
Making it convenient for travelers to access e-mail and stay in-touch with the office, friends and family while on vacation, Bolongo now offers new WIFI access hotspots around its pool and lounge areas -- all which can be accessed via a guest's wireless laptop. For those who don't want to travel with their personal computer, guests can purchase phone cards in Bolongo's gift shop to be used in conjunction with the resort's Internet kiosk located in the lounge.
