Man, it's pouring!!!

Post by nothintolose »

Just checked the webcam and it's pouring right now!!!

I would take a pouring rain day there any day though :) I just hope for the sake of those on island and getting ready to go that it doesn't bring the skeeters back.

Rain Rain Go Away

Post by snorkelqueen »

I'm getting worried. In years past we've seen the 30% chance of rain every day on the weather report and realized that it meant a nice shower during the day and a great light show and rain at night.....but I am wondering about the weather this year. It sounds like there's been A LOT of rain on St. John, or is it just people talking about those wonderful afternoon showers??? We're on island July 7-21 and I am hoping for sunny skys. Keep me posted guys...I'd hate to have to sit inside and drink for two weeks...

The low here last night was 32 record-breaking degrees (F). They activated the chain laws for trucks on I-70. You guys are gonna be fine. :)

I can't believe it's been a whole month since we were there!

Even though we didn't really get all that much rain, it was cloudy almost every day. There would be beautiful blue sunny skies now and then, but I'd say it was mostly cloudy. The only thing that I'm worrying about for you is more skeeters! I'm sending you my special "no skeeters" vibe!! 8)

Now where's that bug zapper??

I'm sitting here ready to do the walk of woe to the ferry. Going to catch the 1:00pm and it looks very busy down there today. We had perfect weather this week. One shower during the week, and then yesterday, it did rain shower off and on all day. The skies opened up while we were at Trunk Bay! Haven't had any problem with the skeeters. Hope the good weather continues for those of you traveling. It is quite HOT here during the day.
Going "home" again October 26th!

We were on island May 26 - June 2 and it was the first trip that we experienced really bad weather. Not just the afternoon or nighttime shower, but rain that started in the morning and went on most of the day. One night I was convinced that we were in the middle of a monsoon. We had to close up the main house to keep the living room furniture dry.

On the other hand, we weren't bother too much by mosquitos.....but the no-see-em's ate everyone up. Our legs looked like we had the measles. And yes, I took an arsenal of Deet, etc. I'm hoping the weather has moved through now, for those of you travelling in the upcoming weeks.

As you typed this thread, my husband and I were waiting it out (the only ones waiting it out) at Hawksnest. After about 45 minutes sitting in the water and waiting for it to stop pouring I finally conviced my husband to leave. I did say to him though that there is no better place to be in the rain than on the beach in STJ :)
