12 hours!
12 hours!
Well, in about 12 hours we will take off from Chicago (weather permitting)
and we are on our way to STJ!
I remembered a post that BugBlu98 wrote right before her trip. She said she cried (a happy cry) because she knew she was going home, to STJ, to a place that was so special to her. I really know what she was feeling, being an emotional person, myself.
I went to STJ for the first time 2 years ago. I fell in love with it instantly.
All of my life from the age of about 2 I have loved the ocean and have dreamed of that perfect island, that perfect place where it wasn't crowded or fancy, but where the beaches were beautiful and unspoiled. I started to look for that a few years back when I finally realized that we could afford to go.
I give myself an A++ on that homework because I found STJ, with the help of that other forum and a lot of internet surfing.
The minute I saw the island while on the CA ferry, I knew that this was it. The place that I had dreamed about. I "got it"instantly, unfortunately my SO liked it, but did not have the same feeling I did. I wanted to come back while I was still there.
I had to wait 2 years and I had to talk the family into it and it is finally here. Now I must make sure that they have a good time!
Thanks to all of you for your help as I have learned so much from all of you. Even though my family thinks I have "STJ sickness", I am sure that they will appreciate my knowledge because I will be able to find things and show them around.
I usually don't say this much, but I have had 2 painkillers.
I hope we make the 5:00 Red Hook ferry so look for us, whatever time that would be, 5:20 or so. Maybe it will be the 6:00 ferry, I am not counting on anything.
Watch for a message in the sand. Maybe I will write one for my 6 on the beach friends.
Thanks again to all of you for your help and for being here to talk to.

Terese, I can't let you go without putting in my 2 cents! Don't worry about it if they don't get it right away. Rick liked STJ a lot, now since we spent a week there, he likes is a WHOLE lot. I think he's beginning to get it. He's even become a lurker here on the forum... hee hee!
There's always hope!
