Car Rental

Post by pdemilto »

I am renting a car in St. Thomas and taking it over to St. John, is their any thing I need to know that may cause any problems. I'm going in July so their shouldn't be too much traffic. Any tips? Thanks

Make sure the company from which you are renting allows you to bring the car over on the ferry. I know that Hertz does not. Driving on the left is a little counter intuitive, but you will get used to it. The car ferry requires you to back on, so be prepared for that. I would suggest not getting a round trip ticket, its slightly less expensive, but it means you must take the same ferry operator back over.
Its an island so its hard to get lost. Custom is to beep when you come around a blind turn on a narrow road to warn on coming drivers. Most of all, have fun.

We will be there in July also, can't wait.
