Apparently the US Virgin Islands is not on the list of areas/countries covered by Verizon's TravelPass, although the British Virgin Islands is on the list.

I use Verizon and for our last trip I called them and changed my plan for international use for the one billing cycle. It was only $40 more and I never had to worry about having my phone on/off, roaming, etc. I just recently got my bill and it was exactly $40 more and that's it. Just an option

Thanks for the info. I just returned home from 3 weeks at Grande Bay, no Verizon service except texting. Will definitely get the international plan for April trip. Grande Bay was super awesome.
