HELP Daughter doesn't want to visit STJ!

Post by northerngal »

Our daughter will be graduating in 2017 from pharmacy school and we promised her and her guy a trip to some place cool for sticking out 6 hard years of school. BUT she has been to STJ and wants to try somewhere different :(
We LOVE STJ but this is her trip. any suggestions on where to take her that would be comparable?
We will have to do the trip to STJ by ourselves!!! THANKS!

First, are you sure she's yours? All sorts of things can happen. Was she switched with another in the hospital?   It needed to be asked.

It depends on what she wants and why she would rather not go to STJ. Is it too small, too quiet (not enough night life), "been there, done that," Does not have the activities she would want (golf, etc.), or something else.

There are so many choices in the tropics and so many reasons to select them. It's hard to say what would suit her better. Perhaps she'd rather hike the Rockies or Alaska.

We are going to try a week on STX next year. We've been diving STJ for 7 or 8 years, and we've heard about some great diving around STX. We'll also spend some time on STJ, but the bulk of my time will be spent on STX.

You'll find a place that is just for her. :)

I know! I think she was switched a birth! But what can I do!
She wants warm but just a different island. We all love to snorkel but maybe she wants to hike too.....neither one of them drink so night life is not an issue.

STX might be a good choice, good snorkeling from shore or boat, two different towns, much more diverse terrain to see, plenty of interesting hiking.

STX and Isla Mujures are 2 places we would visit again...STX was the Island that we rented our very 1st Villa...10 days, on the beach, in a gated community for $1,800...ok it was 20 years ago

If they are the outdoor type, I strongly suggest Belize. It is an eco tourist dream: best diving in Caribbean, beautiful, highly protected rain forests, Mayan ruins, organic cocoa and coffee farms and wonderful friendly people. Go to the Southern portion.....Placencia and south of there.

I would highly recommend Kauai if they want some incredible hiking.

Three or four nights on Oahu's North Shore...just long enough to see Pearl Harbor and climb Diamondhead...then head to Kauai for at least a week. Kauai is stunningly beautiful...
