Help me pick a villa

Post by michigan girls »

As the time for our April trip is drawing near, it's time to finalize the choices for our August trip. We thought we had the perfect villa picked up, but sadly the online calendar had not been updated and it is not available for our dates. Have it narrowed down to the following:

Frangipani
Pros - love the view and the location (prefer Coral Bay side), the price is right, pool
Cons - I don't see mention of wifi, so I would have to spring for a myfi card and hope for decent signal (I have to work a couple hours each day). No outdoor shower, and I don't know anything about this neighborhood (one of the reviews mentions possibly a tricky driveway).

Brisas del Mar
Pros - view and location are killer, pool and hot tub, wifi
Cons - have stayed in this neighborhood before, and I like to try different areas, the price is at the top of our budget at $2000, no outdoor shower

Tropical Manor
Pros - I love upper carolina, hot tub, lots of outdoor living space, outdoor shower
Cons - doesn't look like it has views I'm used to from upper carolina - unless the website sucks at displaying them - it seems the water view is kind of obstructed, which makes me wonder about my sunrise view as well. near the high end of the budget.

I have some other requests out, but these are the 3 I've heard back from that are contenders. I considered trying out the Fish Bay area, but the one response I've gotten back so far showed a rate about double from the rate listed on the website, which annoys me. I'd like to keep the housing cost under $2000 for our August trip, since we have a more expensive villa for our April trip, and I'm trying to plan a November trip for elsewhere in the Caribbean.

It's myself and my 2 adult sons - who can share a room if it has 2 beds. I usually prefer the Coral Bay side, but am open to trying something new - just not a condo (we did that last August). Our planned dates are 07/28-08/04. Any other suggestions are welcome :-)

Michigan girl,my vote is for Brisas del Mar, it looks fabulous and has everything you need and want. Plus, it's up high and in august those breezes will feel wonderful and will help keep the mosquitoes away. Sitting out on that deck, with that view, working for a couple hours won't be so bad :D
Have a great time...

That was my initial thought as well - but I'm having a hard time deciding between that and Tropical Manor. I do love Upper Carolina, and I love outdoor showers. Also, it's about $250 less. If my daughter was coming, the pool would seal the deal for her, but my boys don't really care about that so much - preffering the hot tub.

Check out these pics - I'm having a hard time getting over it - http://www.tropicalmanorstjohn.com/gallery/gallery.htm

I think we've ruled out Frangipani - although I love the price and location, I just don't want to have to deal with bringing my own wifi.

UGH- decisions, decisions

Tropical manor looks like a nicer villa, but it doesn't have the view! We just came back from staying in a nice budget friendly villa, 2-bedrooms, we had a valley view from the deck and could see some of fish bay to the left. I really missed being up higher, having the views, seeing the sunrise, and the breezes. Do what your gut tells you to do, but next time we go, I want that view again and to see the sunrises.
