bathrooms in a rental villa

I love an outdoor shower, but it's not a deal breaker. If I'm torn between 2 properties though, and only one has an outdoor shower - that's the one I'm picking.

I don't really care about the size, or double sinks. As long as there is plenty of hanging space, it's all good.

How exciting to have this project - I'm envious

I forgot to put in my vote for the outdoor shower. I would always choose a villa with one. It's pretty much why we bought our villa!

Don't worry about double sinks. But some counter space for toothbrushes, etc., would be great. If counter space is really limited, adding a nearby shelf or two would be great. Even in a rental I like a vanity with a couple of drawers, so I don't have to leave all my stuff (lotion, toothpaste, etc.) on the counter.

Make sure the shower heads are pretty high. (You know my family so you know why I'm saying this!) You haven't seen Nate for a few years, but he's 6'5" now. Delaney is 6'. All of us dislike crouching down to wash our hair.

Some hooks or a towel bar to hang towels near the sink and near the shower. Extra over-the-door hooks are handy too, especially when more than 1 person is sharing a bathroom.

Bathrooms are our least concern when renting villas as long as they are clean and functional. It doesn't matter if they are small or don't have double sinks. As many have mentioned, having windows, enough storage space (drawers and/or shelves) and many hooks would be appreciated.

I personally don't care much for an outdoor shower. I've stayed in the area where your house is (off to your left) and it was pretty windy most of the time. The house we rented (faces east like yours) had an outdoor shower and, since the water pressure wasn't great, it was a little hard to take a shower in a strong breeze (I found myself constantly shifting to stay in the stream), not to mention I felt rather chilly. If you decide to build outdoor showers, make sure to have decent water pressure.

No problem with small baths as my husband and I are on different schedules while on vacation. However, storage is key. With smaller baths, many are putting in the pedestal sink which has no surface area for storage. With makeup (on occasion), hair products, dryer, etc., I prefer not to drag in and out of the bathroom. One rental had a nice size basket on the back of the toilet which helped. Shared outdoor shower close to bedrooms may work as long as privacy is maintained and there's a system for knowing when in use. Another feature which we loved in the shower was the cutoff at the shower head. This allowed us to preserve water (military shower) without re-adjusting the main valve pressure and temp.

Okay, this is kinda funny to me because I am only 5'2" on a good day. So, if you do the shower head too high, I have to run around the shower to get wet. Not fun. A shower head that is either adjustable or detaches ROCKS.

Depends what you are spending. I like good water pressure, hot water, clean, en-suite if possible and a place to put my shower stuff. Other than that, if I am on St. John, I am happy!
