Thank You!

Post by PointPeeps »

Thank you Laurance Rockefeller!

Where do I sign up for St John lovers anonymous? I think it must be here. LOL!
Wow! St John was everything and more! Let me start by saying "thank you" for all the suggestions and input and of course to Mr Rockefeller for having the forethought and cash to preserve another breathtakingly beautiful place for all of us to enjoy.
St John was on our bucket list for quite some time. This was our first week away with no kids to celebrate someone's 50th and also a belated 25 anniversary. We have been fortunate to see many beautiful places, more specifically beaches, but St John is by far our favorite. No high rises, no traffic lights, casual vibe, gorgeous views , friendly folks and the best of nature.....not to mention "Ziggy", who we fell in love with. We looked forward to seeing him every morning.
We took a direct flight to St Thomas, then used Rachel's taxi to Red Hook. Rachel was wonderful! We were greeted by a villa rep at the dock and escorted to our villa at Grande Bay. Thank you Traci! Spent our first few days hiking the Lindt Point trail to Solomon and Honeymoon beaches. Did the all day Eco tour buy one get one day pass at Honeymoon Beach, which was well worth it and a great day.
We rented a jeep from Grande Bay for the last few days and had a blast discovering the other side of the island and as many beaches as possible. Our favorite beaches were Francis, Hawksnest, Gibney ( yes, got one of the 3 parking spots), Maho and Trunk, which we hit early on a none cruise ship day and had it all to ourselves for a few hours. We hit Beach Bar, Spyglass (great happy hour),Woodys ( another great happy hour), Lime Inn (very friendly place), Tourist Trap (good food), Skinny Legs, Shipwreck (great meal), Ocean 362 and Joe's Rum Hut. The Beach Bar was our go to place and we were fortunate to catch Inner Visions here one night. Ocean 362 was a total overpriced let down. The best thing here was the sunset.
We did the Kekoa to Soggy Dollar on our last day and it was a great way to spend our last day. Jamison runs a first class operation.
So now we are hooked and are looking forward to our next visit. We can't wait to share it with our kids and friends. Next visit we will definitely try Zozos, and La Tapa and also hit the Salt Pond.
Once again "thank you"....and let me share one more memorable St John experience with ya:
We were at Maho next to a 3 generation family. The little ones were asking their grandmom why they didn't leave out milk and cookies for Santa at her house on St John on Christmas Eve .....the grand mother replied " on St. John we don't leave out cookies and milk for Santa we leave Santa a painkiller". :)

Point Peeps, I think you caught the St. John Bug and this is the place. I caught it 5 years ago and am planning my 4th trip for October!!! My husband took me to The Caves in Jamaica this year which was on my bucket list and lots of celebs go there. (I wanted to go to St. John, but he wanted to try a "new" place) It was nice, but not SJ. When I go to St. John my "soul feels at home". Sounds goofy and my sisters think I'm a kook, but I've never been anyplace like it before. I cry every time I leave and would really like to spend a lot of my retirement time there! So glad you had a great time! You like it for the same reasons I do! Enjoyed reading.

We will be on the island in a few weeks - our third visit in three years. We are hooked and dream of someday calling St. John home. Although we have thought about other vacation destinations, it is really hard to think of another place that would give us that same "ahhhhhh" feeling that the island gives us. :D

PointPeeps, welcome to the addiction that has no cure. Our addiction started 17 months ago and we have already made 3 trips. Our 4th trip is next month and this time we are taking our 15 year old son and 11 year old daughter.

Doesn't sound goofy at all - you nailed it.

Welcome to the obsession PointPeeps. My 4th trip in 3 years is coming up shortly. There is no place on earth I would rather be.

Backtotheislands you could not have said it any better. "Soul feels at home" is a perfect description to the feeling of STJ. Thanks!

Yes, "my soul feels at home". Definitely the "ahhhhhhh" feeling. Utopia found! Glad to have all of you to share this obsession with. :)

BarbY, Our Point is farther south down the Jersey shore.

The first time I set foot on STJ, I felt more at home than I've ever felt anywhere in the world. It just felt like I belonged! Now, that feeling starts in STT as soon as I see Rachel waiting for us!

Some people do think I'm crazy, because they want to go other places... But I see no reason to fly all over the world when I've already found the best place in the world!

After three trips, I still feel the same! Can't wait for the next trip. Welcome to our addiction PP! As addictions go, this is a pretty good one!
