Re: Split stay between two villas?
Thanks for the input, Loria. It probably will take more time than I would like to change villas, but I am also hoping that it would save time during other days. I know weather can create havoc, but ideally we would use the first five days exploring Coral Harbor area and South Shore beaches and the other five days between North Shore beaches and Cruz Bay. Some of the villas around Bay Rum Breeze look appealing because of the central location.
B&J, thanks for the input about the vegetation growth around Bayview. We had a similar situation with it at One Particular Harbor. Although the landscaping was very beautiful, the view from the pool was nothing like the photo on the website.

Re: Split stay between two villas?
We stayed at Bayview in 2009. We really enjoyed it and yes, Bob & Anita highly recommended it. Bayview has the ultimate view and it was not obstructed when we stayed. We did not have toilet problems but we did arrive between two storms. One ended as we landed and then re-occured overnight our first night. There were some issues with some of the door seals and the rainwater would find a way in when the water was pooling up on the patio. The only issue that would keep me from staying there again are the screens on the east porch. The last night of our stay, the mosquitos were blossuming and I had to have the lights on to pack in the main house. With no AC I had the doors open with the screens closed. I received more skeeter bites that night than the whole rest of the trip. I would also only recommend Bayview for one couple. The downstairs bedroom was so dark and without any of the fantastic view.B&J in VA wrote:I forgot to mention that we stayed at Bayview in 2007. There are views from both sides of the house, which was very nice. The view to the north shore is a bit "narrow" since the trees have grown and obscured some of the view. The patio was very pleasant for sitting in the shade, and the balcony had great views out to Coral Bay. The only thing I wanted to mention is that we had toilet issues when we were there and had to call the villa manager for a plunger. We noticed that others had written about the same issue in the guest book. If you decide you want to stay there, you should probably ask if the issue has been resolved. It almost seemed like it may have been an on-going issue since several people mentioned it. However, there were some people who used to post on this forum that stayed there several times and loved it (I think their forum name was Bob & Anita).
I would also recommend Bayview but it is nice to know it's drawbacks as well as it's good points.

Thanks Toes for the additional information on Bayview. It's always good to have more opinions and I truly appreciate all the great feedback on the forums. Having a pool and changing up locations are the biggest reasons we are looking to switch villas. I loved One Particular Harbor this past July so I know how great the Coral Bay views are. I'm currently trending towards a Cathrinberg villa or a Gifft Hill villa. That could totally change though in the next hour.

If you are concerned about leaving luggage in your car on the switch day, check at Connections in Cruz Bay. I know they hold luggage for folks who have checked out of their lodging but still want to spend some time on island before heading for the airport. There is also a Connections in Coral Bay next to Skinny Legs. I don't know if they will hold luggage since they are a lot smaller than the Cruz Bay location. But it wouldn't hurt to ask.
We split once -- a week at Maho Bay camp and a week in a cottage. The best of both worlds. Too bad Maho Camp is no longer.
You probably won't want to use a hot tub unless you are at high elevation during the winter months. There is nothing better than a cool plunge into a pool after a day at the beach.

I'm with you on the cool pool after a hot day at the beach. That definitely was one of our favorite activities and a main reason why we are looking to split. I also would have jumped in a hot tub at night if one particular harbor had one. It was relatively cool in the evenings. We were near the top of the mountain in Coral Bay and the breezes were very helpful in keeping the temperature down and the bugs away. I'm hoping if we do this that our second villa would let us drop off belongings while we headed to the beach. It would be a huge time saver and a big relief not having to worry about it in the car. If we had our timeframe locked in, we would be ready to book two villas. I think it would be worth it since it is just the two of us.
