Although I've only toured Gallows Point and Grande Bay, here are my observations on the Cruz Bay condo scene:

If a view is important, you'll have more windows in your unit at Gallows Point and a wider choice of views (harbor vs. Pillsbury Sound) than at Grande Bay. The Gallows Point units are generally 1BR, however, so if you need bedrooms, there are more options at Grande Bay.

You might also consider Lavender Hill, just across the street from Gallows Point and with approximately the same harbor view as Grande Bay. Lavender Hill has mostly 1BR units.

We typically stay Battery Hill, just up the hill from Gallows Point. Its higher elevation allows for a constant breeze. Most of the units are 2BR, have a harbor view, and are less expensive than the other three condos.

We stayed at Serendip Condos in April and loved the location and the fact that it is not a "high rise" ! It has a great location, views and pool area. And the price is right!!

Sea Shore Allure are beautiful condominiums with an easy walk to down town. Same price range as Gallows and Grande.

Sunset Ridge Villas is yet another option. It will depend on when your dates are. SRV usually fills up quickly for high season. But based on views and pure square footage, it is hard to beat and with only six two building units.
Here is their website:

We stayed at Grande Bay and loved it if you are wanting a condo in town. (We love villas too)
So convenient to everything in Cruz Bay..and super new and nice..
I don't know anything about the other places listed but would definitely stay at GB again. Pam

I HIGHLY recommend one of Tracy's units in Grande Bay - she has a 2 bedroom that can be rented as a 2 bedroom, 1 bedroom or studio as well as a one bedroom......

Tracy is a wonderful member of this forum and answers many questions such as "best beach" "best hike" "where should I rent a car" etc and never posts only to advertise her units ( actually never advertises she owns a unit) unlike others in this thread that only answer when people want to rent at Grande Bay !!!

She is a HUGE supporter of St John - walks the dogs at the ACC, supports the Wounded Warrior program, works (if on island) at the Kids Carnival and Using Sport For Social Change, and when at home is very active in sending care packages for our troops in Afghanistan - all around a great person - not to mention her units are beautiful :)

If I am going to give anyone my vacation dollars for renting I would much prefer to give them to such a wonderful person who does her best to contribute to St John in every way possible vs someone who only answers threads here to advertise their unit

There I have said it :)

How is the parking at Gallow Point and Grande Bay during your stay?

Both have on-site parking. Grande Bay's parking is covered.

Stayed at Tracy's unit at Grande Bay (Seaside) last year and booked again for November. Highly recommend! I love being so close to town and Tracy is a wonderful person!
Going "home" again October 26th!

Everything PIA said is true. What PIA left out is that Tracy never has to pay for a ferry. She just walks across from STT.

Tracy would be my first choice too!

Just to set the record straight, I'm headed down to St. John on Sunday and I can guarantee that my ferry ride is definitely the same price as each and every one of you!!! But thanks for the kind words!!
