July Full Moon Party at Miss Lucy's

Post by betsyv »

Hello fellow forumites(?),
I have read about Miss Lucy's full moon partys.
I see there will be a full moon on the 22 of July and we just happen to be on Island :D It's a Monday.
Does anyone know if she still has the partys? I also know she has Sunday brunches. Does anyone know anything about these?

These sound like something we'd like to do if they are still offered.

Hey Betsy...We will be there the same time as you and were thinking about Miss Lucy's Full Moon Party too. I read a trip report from May that said they went and loved it. We are trying to decide between that and hiking Ram Head during the full moon. If Missy Lucy's is still doing it, we may go there... I hope they are :D
Just another day for you, you and me in Paradise...

Hi, Are you getting as excited as I am... :)
About Miss Lucys....I hope so too..It sounds like a lot of fun.

I just made reservations for the reef bay trail hike for the 18th. Its the day after we arrive, but I could only get that or the 22nd, and I wanted to leave that day open in case there was something going on for the full moon.
I'll have to look into Rams head again, but I don't think Id like to hike at night...even with a full moon. It would be cooler tho I guess.

Still haven't decided what we will do on our anniversary(19th). Our 40th.
Anybody reading this ..I am open to ANY suggestions. Hey just being on the island will be great tho.

Really looking forward to our week on St. John. and then ANOTHER on St. Thomas.
Dont forget to get you wrist band at St. John Spice.. We will be picking one up as soon as we get off the ferry....So look for us. We are in our mid-50s...Can I still say that when I turn 57 on the 25th.. lol

Oh My Gosh YES! It's all I can do to contain myself. This is our first time so we are just beside ourselves with anticipation!

I haven't made any reservations yet. I've been trying to pin my husband down on what he wants to do. He keeps telling me that whatever I want to do, he'll do. He's known me since we were sixteen years old, I think he should have learned better by now! The full moon hike was suggested to me by a friend who'd done it and loved it. Just in case, I bought an extra head lamp for me but we'll see. It sounds nice. You hike out before moonrise and hike back after dark.

July 23rd will be our 30th anniversary. I "think" we are going to make a reservation at ZoZo's for that. But I guess that depends on what we do on that day. But, like you said, just being on the island is great!

We've been to St. Thomas on a day trip and really loved it. We thought about going there or Turks for ten days but I've been reading about STJ for years and we pulled the trigger. I will be going to St. John Spice as soon as we get off the car ferry, for bracelets. Look for us too. Two 48 year old chunky (formerly svelte) monkeys with wide eyes...and probably a Arkansas Razorback cap on at least one of us!

Congratulations on your anniversary and Happy Happy Birthday!
Just another day for you, you and me in Paradise...

Hello Ladies!
We are celebrating our 26th anniversary on the 18th. This will be our tenth trip to STJ. It is my happiest place on earth! We are going to be on island from the 12th to the 26th. Would love to maybe meet a few forumites for a drink at the Beach Bar if we can. Let me know if this sounds good to either of you.
Thanks,
Laura

ready4paradise,
Yes.. We'd love to meet up with other forumites at the beach bar...
We are going to be based on the coral bay side of the island..so not sure when we will be in Cruz bay.
Except on the 18th when we will be meeting there for the NP hike. I'm sure we will be back to pick up our car after..not sure how long the hike will take, but it starts at 9AM, so I figure we will be looking for lunch in Cruz bay..and will probably pop into the Beach Bar to see if anyone's about... If that's not a good day...pick a date or two we will try to shoot for them also. We go to StT, on the 24th.

As far as Miss Lucy's goes...If they don't have it there anymore, ....If we get enough people together we can start our own Full Moon Party...

LynnieGirl: You'll enjoy the full moon hike at Ram Head, but do make sure that you both have a head lamp or flashlight. The moon will still be pretty low in the sky when you head back, and you really need to be able to see where you are placing your feet.

All the best,

We will be staying in Coral Bay as well but plan on making several trips into Cruz Bay. We will be there from July 16 to July 25th. I'd love to meet up with everyone and put names and faces together.

Thanks Kevin! We each have a headlamp and I'm also bringing a flashlight. What time should we head up there? I was also hoping to get by and see your place but it's booked and I don't want to bother anyone. But that doesn't mean we can't drive by :D

So Excited!!

LynnieGirl: Combining a hike out to Ram Head with the Full Moon Party at Miss Lucy's is a great plan. The daytime views on the way to and out at Ram Head are exceptional, so you may want to head out while it is still daylight. It's also better to walk it once in daylight before making the return trip with only a low moon and flashlights. The full moon rises at sunset, which during your stay is very nearly 7 PM, so starting the hike at say 6:15 PM would probably be ideal. Take note of the spot where the trail leads you onto the blue cobblestone beach, so you will be able to pick the trail back up more easily upon your return. It's not an option at this time of year, but from November to February, you can watch the sun set in the water south of St. Thomas from Ram Head, AND get to watch the full moon rise.

You're right, Coconuts is rented during your stay, with no turnover, but our new place next door (Plumeria) is open, so should you feeling a little sunset deprived over there in Coral Bay, PM me, and we could probably arrange for a greeter to let you in around sunset.

All the best,

Kevin

I agree you could also do hike and miss Lucy's. we did hike in April and was amazing.
We went around 5 so we could see the sunset, I would highly recommend, it was a totally different view than other sunsets, breathtaking!
We took our time and had about 35 minutes before the moon began rising once we were up top.
Headlamps are great, I would also recommend each person has their own light source. We had one headlamp for two, we could have done it but would have been slow. I remembered I had the flashlight app on my phone and our pace doubled.

Don't miss it, it really was spectacular. Miss Lucy's was packed on our way out about 7, sure you could squeeze in somewhere!
Have a great time!!

We will be on St. John 7/16-7/23 so if Miss Lucy does have the Full Moon Party on the 22nd that would be a great way to cap off our trip!

This is our second time on St. John. My husband and I went for our anniversary 10 years ago when our kids were still toddlers and they stayed home w/the grandparents. We've been talking about returning to St. John with them every since when they would old enough to appreciate it (and strong swimmers for the snorkeling). Now they are 10 and 12 and to say this trip has been 10 years in the making is no understatement.

We are all so excited! Staying in Coral Bay and counting the days!!!

Looks like Coral Bay is the place to be!.. :D
We should have a meeting place on that side of the island too... After a long day of fun...I know I'll be looking for a nice place to relax and be social..thats not too far to drive home after.
Any suggestions?
Skinny legs is what comes to mind for me..Is that a bar, or just a restaurant?

So I just called Miss Lucy's and her Full Moon Party for July is going to be on Tues July 23rd rather than the 22nd (the actual full moon) since the 22nd is a Mon and they are closed. Unfortunately this doesn't work for us since we leave the morning of the 23rd, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up.
