Happy Hour Help
It looks like we'll be spending two evenings in Cruz Bay this trip. I don't think I've been in Cruz Bay after dark since our first trip in 2001, and I don't remember that very clearly. Could someone give an overview of the Happy Hour opportunities? It sounds like Happy Hour starts and ends at different times at different bars, and each one has its specialty. How should we spend our evening(s)?
Re: Happy Hour Help
If you use anthony's restaurant map or mine...there should be links to websites and meanus that call out happy hour info...

Hey, what happened to all you fun-loving Cruz Bay lovers? Doesn't anyone want to tell me about their favorite Happy Hour? Here's your chance to convert a Coral Bay gal to the high life in town!

And of course don't forget thier bushwacker made with thin mint cookies or Nutella.
Re: Happy Hour Help
We like Spyglass, just above Joe's Rum Hut in Wharfside Village.
Great prices on drinks and appetizers, great second-floor view of the harbor.
May be under new management and things could have changed since February, but we suggest giving it a try.

Me too. We stopped by several times back in February. Nice wine selections as well.Xislandgirl wrote:I am a big fan of Motu. Comfie couches and fun drinks
Joe's Rum Hut was also fun.

3-5 is usually post beach nap time for us! I am not a huge fan of cheap drinks because I think you get what you pay for. I will second the Spyglass recommendation. They have a great happy hour menu of cheap snacks and drinks. $5 for 2 small fish tacos and they were great!
Re: Happy Hour Help
Loved our time at Motu yesterday after Sunday beach day. Peach bellini was excellent! Motu has a really fun vibe and you can people watch. There was some guy in the harbor doing some new thing where a jet of water propels him 15 or so feet up and he rides it. Something like walking on a jet of water! It was interesting to see...

Ha! I posted same question back in April knowing we would be on island at Gallows first week of June and wanted to hit the happy hours with our now 20 year old (talk about a different family dynamic from the last time on island 4 yrs ago and middle school years prior to that LOL).

It was fun to roll back into town late afternoon from the beach for quick showers then walk down to town for drinks before dinner. We hit Joes Rum Hut that goes til 6 then switched over to the Beach Bar at 7. Had intentions of wandering upstairs to Spyglass one time but never made it. We also had intentions one day of starting early at the Tap Room over in Mongoose to sample the draft beers and some fun sounding apps/bar food and making our way over towards the waterfront.
DonnaM – as to your sometimes legit concern about getting the cheap stuff at HH, not so at these 2 places, especially Joes which as far as I can tell is truly “You Call It” i.e. name the good stuff, and you get that for $3. Not huge drinks of course but the girls behind the bar really hustle and they don’t make them weak.
As noted in Part 1 of my Trip Report, we also discovered the “No Shower Happy Hour” i.e. we roll into town off the beach, I would drop the girls off at the Beach Bar, zip up and drop the car and beach stuff at Gallows, walk back down and they would have my drink and an order of app/bar food up, and the HH festivities commenced. (I have some fun photos and video of this I will post in next part(s) of trip report to soon come)
After a few at Joes, maybe a few at the Beach Bar, we would stroll back up to Gallows, watch the end of the sunset with my own rum punch , shower/get ready for dinner, and inevitably walk back down to town for dinner, or one night, upstairs to Zozos. Of course by then we were sufficiently lubricated that we usually just drank tons of water with dinner
. We also don’t mind walking a lot
That also means we walked past Motu numerous times - we briefly considered, but the fru fru drinks they appear to specialize in are not our style. Just give us simpletons pineapple Cruzan, a splash of OJ, topped with cranberry juice and squeeze of lime and we are quite satisfied. The girls at Joes got to know and make this drink for us quite well
The bar food is such that the tuna dishes at the Beach Bar, perhaps the apps at Spyglass folks have mentioned, the burgers at Joes noted here: http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/v ... =1&t=25638 are also good enough to be “dinner”, especially on a day that you enjoy a big lunch out – examples for us were Shipwreck or our all time lunch fav Sun Dog.

I like Spyglass for good rum, drinks that are inexpensive along with $1 wings ( 5 different flavors) and fish tacos 3/ $5. Across the Street has picked up a lot of business because of their $1 drinks now.
