Condo recommendation
Condo recommendation
For our prior 2 visits to St. John we rented a villa. I'm planning a trip for next May and we want to stay within easy walking distance of downtown Cruz Bay. Plus we need to find a budget friendly option as we will take my daughter and a friend. So we need sleeping space for 4. It doesn't need to be luxurious just clean and comfortable.
I appreciate any recommendations the experts may have!

Re: Condo recommendation
Grande Bay is an option you may want to check out. It is within walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants, and also comes with a parking space (one, two and three bedrooms only). The units are new and very clean. Grande Bay also hosts events each week at Waterfront Bistro, Motu and Hugh Tide, which is an added plus.

I also recommend Grand Bay. Safe, clean, convenient, modern and a state of the art pool and hot tub! Some forum members are owners and I'm sure you'll hear from them. Also check out Lavenderhill.net. Have fun deciding.
Re: Condo recommendation
I would suggest Seaside at Grande Bay. It is perfect.

Re: Condo recommendation
Suggest you consider Battery Hill.
Of the nine units, eight of them have two bedrooms.
A bit more of a walk than Grande Bay and Lavender Hill, but most BH units are less expensive.

Re: Condo recommendation
Take a look at Star Villas. They have a number of two-bedroom units on the block behind Grand Bay. Basically, they are between Lavender Hill and Battery Hill. We stayed in a one-bedroom unit last month.

Re: Condo recommendation
Check out Battery Hill and Lavender Hill- not as close to Cruz Bay as Grande Bay but easy walk to town and probably cheaper than Grande Bay.
Re: Condo recommendation
Grande Bay is awesome....but not "budget friendly" for some. If GB is over your budget, try Sugar Bird Nest..

We LOVE Lavender Hill! We have some friends who are staying at Battery Hill during Carnival; I will be interested to hear how they like it....looks like a heck of a hike back from town.

Re: Condo recommendation
Sugar Bird Nest and the studio are wonderful as I have stayed there but I would not recommend renting there without a car, that would be quite a uphill walk back home, the weekly rates are great and Lee and Gigi are the best!stjchica wrote:Grande Bay is awesome....but not "budget friendly" for some. Re: Condo recommendation
We have stayed at Grande Bay and Lavender Hill and I can recommend them both.
If Grande Bay is within your budget, this is one of the "one bedroom & a studio" combinations (two suites are connected by an internal door) I recommend: http://www.vrbo.com/328461 (the same suite lovestj already recommended in this thread).
Depending on how many beds you need, you can rent just one bedroom and use the sleep sofa, too. The owner is a member of this forum and is really, really nice (you can take my word for it).

100% recommend Seaside or Egrets Rest in Grande Bay. As Pickle has stated the owners are amazing people and active members of this forum and contribute a lot (and the owners are not Thomhill2 who only contributes to this forum when advertising his own unit)

Re: Condo recommendation
Maybe some other forum members who are Grande Bay owners will chime with good options. We stayed at http://www.vrbo.com/228254 Cruzen Blue in Grande Bay in April and loved it. Good luck and have a blast!

Re: Condo recommendation
For our upcoming August trip I needed a budget condo for myself and my 2 adult boys. We chose Palm Breezes in Battery Hill. The price was good, and I needed a place that boys would have their owns beds, while still sharing a room. I can't say if it's great or not until we've been there in August, but I got a lot of good feedback on it from others who have stayed there.

I can also vouch for the owner of Seaside and Egrets Rest, just a sweet wonderful person, we will be staying at Seaside in August and I don't want to wish the summer away but we can't wait for August!Pia wrote:100% recommend Seaside or Egrets Rest in Grande Bay.
