Class of 2013 - Day 1

Post by pswlrw »

This year’s trip was to celebrate my darling daughter’s college graduation. It was me, my friends Tom and Phyllis and Lauren and several of her friends. We flew direct from Boston on Jet Blue and it was our earliest arrival ever – we were on the 2:00 ferry. Tom and I went to St. John Car Rental to pick up the Nitros and left Phyllis and the kids in the park with the luggage. When I pulled up to pick them up, I inadvertently turned onto the one way in front of the dock and a lady police officer very nicely instructed me to go around a again and directed us into a backed up position in front of the dock. We thanked her, loaded up the cars and headed out to Vistaero in Rendezvous Bay. This is our 3rd time staying at this villa and may be our last – not because there was anything wrong with it. It is a slightly older villa and showing a bit of wear, but I love this villa; I think it is the best value with amazing outdoor spaces and jaw dropping views. But, the villa has been sold and the new owners were coming in the day we left and I am told they are going to some extensive renovations which will likely put it out of our price range.

We get to the villa and everyone’s jaws literally drop. We unload the cars and … my suitcase is not there! “Those rotten kids” as our college grads affectionately came to be known, had left my suitcase in Cruz Bay Park!!! I head back to town, hoping that my bag will miraculously still be there. I pull up and ask the police woman who helped me park if anyone had found a suitcase – she asked me my name and was so happy to tell me that she had the bag in her car and was hoping I would come back before her shift ended. I regret that I did not get her name because I really would like to publicly acknowledge how helpful and welcoming she was.

After a stop at Starfish I head back to the villa and hop in the gorgeous pool. Ahhhhhh. We all enjoy some pool and hot tub time and then my brother and his fiancé arrive with a pot of sauce and we enjoy a great reunion dinner and drinks on the deck.

Your pictures bring back some wonderful and recent memories of Vistaero. We (10 out of a 30 person group) stayed at Vistaero the last week of April into the first week of May of this year. Best vacation ever! I am glad to hear that Vistaero will get some much needed love and repair as this villa is spectacular! This was our second trip to St. John and it won't be our last. Thanks for the great trip report.
