interesting survey

Considering the shortage of hotel rooms on STJ - 3 star in particular you have to wonder how they ever came up with these numbers - not that I really disagree with the overall conclusions.

I am kind of surprised to see Paradise Island on the list. I guess a lot has changed since we used to go there, because it was really affordable back then.

So what are the 3 star hotel rooms on St John? Westin, the Boutique Hotel, what else? I'm assuming Caneel rates higher than 3

I wonder if they're averaging over a year. It seems to me that prices on STJ have more of a bump during high season than many other places. One villa I looked at - only briefly due to the rates - is $400/night in the low season but $715/night during President's Week, when we'll be there. That's a pretty big jump, at least for my budget. I know lodging on other islands has seasonal rates but it seems that STJ varies more so off season pricing is more comparable to other islands. (Maybe I'm imagining it since we only travel during holidays and I get sucked in by the lower advertised rates!)
