Thanksgiving

Post by saldar77 »

Hello Everyone.

I am new to this forum and have a quick question. I am planning on spending thanksgiving in St. John and was wondering if anyone knows of any restaurants/bars that are open on thanksgiving day. Also, are there any special events during that time?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, many restaurants will be open. Many will have set menus and do an early and late seating. Just make reservations well in advance and you should have no problems.

Not sure about any events that will be going on. Should know more about that closer to the date. Flavors of St. John usually happens close to Thanksgiving. It's a culinary experience and competition with many of the local restaurants and caters. A great opportunity to try a little of everything and support St. John at the same time.

I, like you, had the same questions when we went to STJ last Thanksgiving. I wanted to find the perfect place, etc. However, once we got on island and got on "island time"..We ended up just going with the flow. Most restaurants were open, a few were closed. As the others stated, if you want something fancy or special, call ahead and make reservations, but if you don't..then no worries just head out and see where you end up.. :D

Thank you! That's really helpful. I cannot wait to be back on the island and on 'island time'! :)

Have a great time. I really enjoyed being there at that time of year which was a first for us.
There was nothing "special" going on for Thanksgiving. It was the first year we didn't have turkey on Thanksgiving (our choice)...but looking out at a gorgeous sunset and the gorgeous water while drinking a fruity drink and having a great dinner sure made up for it~ :D
