Wedding accomodations needed

Hi everyone-

My cousin is planning a wedding for February 2014. She is debating between Florida, Puerto Rico and St. John. Obviously I am gunning hard for St. John. Her sister is pro-St. John as well. She is afraid that she cannot afford what she wants, so I am looking to all of you to help me convince her that this is doable. This is her wish list:

High season budget is $5,000 a week.

She would like to wake up and have the ability to walk onto a beach. (This, I know, is going to be super tough with her budget.)

She needs at least three bedrooms. I think a loft should be fine. There will be three kids with her between the ages of five and 14.

She prefers to stay away from condos and does not think she can afford Gallows Point.

I think that would be somewhere worth checking out...
As much as we all love STJ...it might not be "perfect" for others...
I haven't been to T&C...but is definitely on my to do list~

Well, if she finds a place meeting those requirements, keep it quiet until booked because we all will want to book it!

I have been to Provo twice and there are tons of on the beach and very close to the beach accomodations. If she is interested, PM me. One of the downsides about T & C is that food and drink is crazy expensive. Because of the import duties, you don't get much relief even if you cook in all the time. Its not STJ (what is?) but it does have many good points.

How about skipping any showers/wedding gifts and having those close to the couple throw in and make up the difference to rent -

I'm sure there are some villas on Klein or Reef Bays that might work. I just reserved one on Reef Bay within that budget and while it's a hike to the beach it's doable.

Thanks for the help so far. Unfortunately Turks and Caicos is not a possibility. The children so not have passports, and for some reason, they aren't interested in getting them passports. Silly, I know.

I doubt that your friend will find anything in her price range where there is a level access to a sandy beach. If she's willing to hike a little or settle on a rockier/rougher beach it might be possible. Make sure your friend knows that there are so many accessible beaches that it's no big deal if she can't get one right on an ideal beach.

I've reserved Virgin Seabreeze, but haven't stayed there yet so can't give a firsthand account. The pictures look very nice and looks like a fantastic set up for a family - see the Villa Caribe website for the most updated. It's my understanding that they haven't maintained the trail from the villa down to the beach because not very many people use it. It's easier to drive around the corner to park along the side of the road closest to the beach to make it easier for hauling chairs, etc.

There are some villas right on Klein Bay too, but that's a rocky beach. The snorkeling is good there though which is why we tend to head there if the North Shore swells are up. It probably wouldn't be good for a 5 year old since the rocks are little hard to walk on, especially getting in and out of the water.
