So far sooo good.
So far sooo good.
We arrived on Saturday. No matter how you do it, travel day is just long. Unless you have access to a teleport it is just a long day. We flew out of Boston early, a two hour layover in Miami and arrival by 3PM in STT. All of the passengers on our cab were headed for Red Hook. Based on how quiet the ride was to Red Hook I would guess that they were mostly new visitors and were wondering if this is what STT looks like, what does STJ look like? We did a Candy's order for our first night and got up to SRV in time for sunset. Ahhh.
Since it is spring break, there are a lot of us here! We are all over the place. When the island is this crowded the proper strategy is early to rest and early to rise. The wind is conveniently out of the southeast making the north shore beaches perfect. That includes the east end north shores like Haulover and Browns'. The best thing to do then is to get up and out early, get a good snorkel in and when the beach starts to fill up around 10 or 11, head for those obscure spots that you know or have heard of. Otherwise head back to the villa for nap or town for whatever.
More to come, maybe pictures even if I can grab the time. I am being hustled out for the day so ta ta. Can we say Haulover North?

Re: So far sooo good.
Excellent strategy. And congratulations on having the optimum conditions for north shore snorkeling - that's always a crapshoot. And as a bonus, the water probably doesn't even seem cold to your Vermont blood!
Enjoy your trip. Real time reports and pictures are always nice to see, but don't sacrifice your precious time on the rock if you don't feel like it - the addicts here can wait a little bit longer for their fix...
