Doubling Down...
Re: Doubling Down...
Thanks to everyone for your kind and supportive comments.
Psufan and mbw1024: Thank you for choosing to stay at Coconuts!
Psufan: While we had not planned to be down in June, Plumeria is still open then, and due to a Q2 miss, I need to take a furlough week in Q2, so we may be down then after all. At the least, if Plumeria is open and we aren't there, we will arrange to give you access.
Caws954: You make a good point about low interest rates. These are lower than they have been in at least 50 years, and we would have been much less likely to roll the dice on a second villa had they been higher. To put the current rates in historical context, I've embedded a 50 year graph of rates on the 10 year T note that sets mortgage rates. Our first mortgage back in 1984 (long since retired), was at 14.5%! The high rates back then were due to Paul Volker's plan to break the back of inflation, which worked. The yield headed steadily downwards afterwards, only to drop yet further due to the great recession, when the Fed funds rate hit the zero lower bound. Bernanke recently forecasted that the ten year yield would ramp up again from here, more than doubling in the next few years.
Dave: Impressive that you fessed up to the call that night; I'll comment further over on that thread. I couldn't mention it until now, but despite renting that cancelled week at Coconuts, we'll now be able to stay at Plumeria, and so are coming down on April 4th. Arrival night is always a bit hectic, and Danielle still has a few reservations about you, but I at least should be able to make it back down for your shindig at High Tide.
Our house has become a transshipment facility once again, with boxes everywhere as we ship lots of home improvement goodies down for our upcoming visit to Plumeria, Coconuts, and then the Cruz Bay Hotel for a few days (cheaper air fare that way). I'll be more likely to be found under a deck than on a beach during our stay, but this second time around, we really know what to do to enhance a villa.
All the best,
Kevin

Re: Doubling Down...
Hi Kevin,
Congrats to both of you!
I have a theory:
You have now run out of projects to do at Coconuts and you needed something else to keep you busy.
We are the people who benefit from that. Plumeria will benefit as well.
So happy for you both!
Lisa

That may be us! We booked quite awhile ago as we loved the look of the villa and all the great reviews it has gotten and we had the deposit available.momto3boys wrote:How exciting! Congrats to Kevin on the Plumeria purchase!
