Why don't more people post villa reviews on Anthony's page?
Re: Why don't more people post villa reviews on Anthony's pa
No - they won't! You can comment on a review without being registered, but to leave a new review - you need to register. You can start that process here:lprof wrote:Your forum user name and password will work

I am trying! But I really don't think it is so hard - I think it just confusing that you have to register for the reviews separately/in addition to the forum... maybe I can solve that in the future. I wanted to be able to let people use their Facebook ids to leave reviews, but there was a technical issue with that too...sherban wrote:make it EASY for the users!
It is a work in progress - I promise improvements!

One more point as mentioned by someone above I think - it is true that I opened the system to anonymous reviews to try to encourage more of them. Still not sure that is/was a good idea, but if you look at this thread:
http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/v ... =1&t=23545
there are instructions there to leave an anonymous review. Don't know how much longer I will leave that open as it seems like inviting potential abuse to me.
And - thanks for all those new reviews everyone!

If your own pics won't upload, they are probably just too big - the file size in the web based uploader chokes on very big images. It is best to resize the largest dimension to 1000 or ever 800 pixels first before uploading.Backtotheislands wrote:I have posted reviews, but I do find pictures difficult to post on here. I don't use a "photo service" online and it won't just take my pics. BUT, I do love this forum. Thanks, Anthony!

Perhaps to clarify a bit more - you can use the same user name and password (when you register) - but - the registration for that system is new. So they don't need to be "different" as you say above - it is just another, additional registration - one in which you can use the same name as you do here (which I actually would encourage so people know who you are).lprof wrote:Your forum user name and password will work; they do need to be registered under "Not a member?" in Villa Reviews first.hoosierdaddy wrote:So I need a different username and password. I can do that and will get a review up from our last trip in a few days. I will review our next villa In a few weeks.
Looking forward to your reviews... enjoy your return to St John!

Ski, anxious to read your review on this one...I think it's cool that it's all the way out there on the edge of that East End peninsula past Vie's and Sloop Jones. I would imagine it's very quiet and secluded out there.ski2play wrote:I agree whole heartedly. Will be adding a review to Villa Gin de Mer in late April after our stay.

Anthony, I would write a review for Cruz Views and for Cinnamon Bay Campground if you add them. You should add one for Lavender Hill as well, since we're going there in a few weeks. And maybe change the title to "Accomodations Reviews) so others know that you'll accept cottage reviews, apartment reviews, etc. Not everyone can stay in a villa....

minde: accommodations reviews is a great idea since there are increasingly other options on our favorite island. Great point!

I agree Minde..I would love reviews on other rentals besides villas! Maybe someday we can afford to stay at those beautiful villas but until then...

Okay, I'm an idiot...but I still haven't figured out how to find the current restaurant reviews, either. Little help here.

Thanks for the suggestion. But, when I click on that drop down menu, the most recent review is from 2011. I'm guessing that there are more recent reviews...somewhere.

Sorry to say that the dining reviews have been down (off line for new ones) for some time. This too will be corrected/updated. I would say that before the end of June you can expect to see a lot of new information and functionality here.
The reason the dining reviews had to be take off line was simply spam - we had an old system in place, and we could not stop spam submissions (so many that they were bringing the server down!). We'll probably be using something similar to the villa review system for new dining reviews.

Anthony, did you see my suggestion about adding other accommodations to your page? Condos, cottages, etc....
Re: Why don't more people post villa reviews on Anthony's pa
I did - we are in the middle of a server migration which really has me tied up! I will be adding these - not sure exactly how/where/when but it will happen. I just need some time -mindehankins wrote:Anthony, did you see my suggestion about adding other accommodations to your page? Condos, cottages, etc....
