Idyllic villa vs. Hummingbird Hill

Post by sasky »

We are 6 adults and 1 toddler going to the island in June. Looking for a 3 bedroom villa, around $3500 for the week (w/ fees and taxes), in the Great Cruz Bay, Chocolate Hole areas. We could go as far as Rendezvous or Gifft Hill. I know our budget is a little on the low side so that limits our options.

After much research we have it narrowed down to these two villas:
Idyllic: http://www.villafish.com/Villas/Propert ... yllic.html
Hummingbird Hill: http://stjohn.villascaribe.com/villa-li ... gbird-hill

This will be the 5th trip for husband and I, and we have 4 newbies with us. I think the location of Idyllic would work better for the newbs. Husband is sold on Hummingbird for the views and bedroom layout. We have wanted to stay on Gifft Hill for a while...I just think the drive might be a little much for people new to the island, especially if they want to go do their own thing.

What say ye, experts?

No comparison with the views. Hummingbird Hill wins hands down. It is pretty high up on Gift Hill so if the newbies want to go to the beaches, town or Coral Bay they can use Gift Hill to Centerline, avoiding most of the treachery. I have stayed next door to Hummingbird, and have stayed at Idyllic, where the downstairs suite would be great with the toddler, and having the pool separate from the house is good for that reason also. The drawback to Idyllic is the view, skeeters, and when I stayed, the washer and dryer were in he downstairs suite so anyone using it is in your space.
