Price increase so disappointed

Post by nancyr84 »

We are planning a trip next June back to St John . I always plan very early and have been looking at Villas narrowing it down.
I contacted the company about one in particular we liked. We decided last night on which one we wanted. I look at it today and price has gone way up. It's out of reach now. Oh well search on again. Has this happened to anyone else?

If you are traveling in low season you might consider waiting until much closer to travel time to reserve a villa to look for "last minute discounts" and/or great bargins.

There seems to be significant opportunity to get discounts in low season because of supply & demand (many villas sit empty)...if you want to book way ahead of time chances are probably less you'll get a discount. Having flexibility is the key to getting good rates (airfare & villa) for us.

Hi nancy, I know you have been asking about sol inclination...was this the villa that you decided on that raised their prices? If so, I know it was for sale and while we were staying there they had a showing. Perhaps it was sold? The new owners may have raised their prices...It is a nice luxury villa with amazing views, so if that's what happened, I'm not surprised and I'm sorry for you :( ...but cheer up, you have plenty of time and there's a lot of really nice villas! South shore villa is just below sol inclination and it looked nice from the outside...check it out.
Good luck!

If I could recommend one thing to people is "try not to get hooked on one particular villa. There are so many that are beautiful with incredible views."

Good luck!

It is Sol Inclination, price went up slightly per night but also 10% tax not included now.It was stretching our budget to begin with and now is out of the question. You know how you always want something more when you cannot have it ! It actually went up last week , just noticed this morning.

Oh boy, an increase per night plus the 10% tax...ouch! And I do understand wanting something more when its out of reach! Haha, human nature....well, if it's any consolation to you we really enjoyed staying there but we won't stay there the next time we go. There truly are so many beautiful areas and great villas that we want to try another area the next time! Can't wait :D
Happy villa hunting!

One time the villa we were seriously considering reserving had a price hike so we had to give up. For our upcoming trip we happened to have already booked a villa before its rather significant rental increase. We feel fortunate since we wouldn't have been able to stay there for the current price. Sometimes the timing sucks and other times it seems to be on your side. I'm sorry you didn't even get a chance to experience the villa of your choice. There are many great villas on St. John as you can imagine. Once you find another villa and re-set your mind on it, you will feel better. Good luck and enjoy!

Oh Pia, Don't we wish we could make an offer! But, alas...they'd have to come down by at least a couple of million
Good luck to your husband on selling the property, it's a very special villa.

We also loved Sol Inclination when we stayed there...mainly for the views. If you can do 3 BR one of which has twins, take a look at Colibri. We have stayed in over 20 villas on St John and I can say that this was one of the best houses and views we have seen. DH passed on it to select Vista Caribe, and for the life of me I don't know why. Tuscany is inItaly, not on St John, if you know what I mean.
