Problem with the Web Site

Post by jimg20 »

My computer keeps blinking off and on then sending me a message that a problem with this web site caused IE to shut down and restart. Is this in my computer or the forum web site?

I tried to log in earlier from my iPhone and I got a SQL error. Everything works now.

It seems to have cleared up for me too. Since no one else seemed to have the problem, I suppose the problem was in my computer.

Thanks

The database of the forum is getting sort of large, and you may (I have once) see a MySQL error. Usually they don't require a reboot of our server, it is sort of a hiccup and works on the next page load.

Browser issues are another thing altogether. IE unfortunately is known for being very particular. If you are using it - you should definitely get the latest version (is it 8?), and you could always try another browser for Windows (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc.).

The forum really doesn't do too much that can overwhelm a browser, but Google and the banner network can from time to time serve up some heavy code, flash, excess javascript that may conflict with other things, etc.

I always recommend a reboot of your system if your browser starts to act funny - can be memory issues, etc. or caching and cookie issues - a reboot cleans everything up and usually improves short term performance again.
