Saved $1000 on 2 RT Tix

Post by Bigcheeze »

Well, my mom and Stepdad who have been traveling to STJ with us all these years had $1200 in vouchers from Delta becaue they were bumped last year in STT and we forced to be put up for 3 nights at Emerald Beach...

As we went to book the vouchers...it was crazy money $1000-1200 each and yes we had some flexible days. But one can only be so flexible when part of a party, villa rental, vehlcle...etc etc.

I did some digging on Kayak and found if we flew them out on an evening flight to ATL and the spent the night and caught the first flight out to STT in the morning, we were able to get the tix for $600 each. Returning home in reverse...get to Atl and spend a night an catch the morning flight to DTW.

As they would always start their trip with an over night stay in DTW anyways...saying that night in ATL worked and broke the trip up and also meant they didn't get home at midnight and still have to drive 2hrs.

Wow, awesome !! We were forced to do something very similar on our upcoming trip. Overnight to San Juan, and arrive in STT at 730 am. On the way home we are staying the night in ATL and arrive in Boston in 9:00 am. The flight times were crazy to arrive home 12:00 am etc. If I wanted a flight in by afternoon or early evening they were 700+ each. We paid $750 for 2 !!
