United messing with our Flights - explanation?
Need a more seasoned traveler's helpful explanation.
Airline has been 'tinkering' with our flight reservation. The best they can now do is have us fly part way (to Washington) on Friday night, we continue our flight to STT Saturday morning. (not terrible -- we get to the beach earlier).
They tell me that they'll give us a 'voucher for a hotel' in Washington after we get there. I couldn't get an explanation of that (that I understood). Can anyone help me understand how that works? Do I need to make a hotel reservation?

Re: United messing with our Flights - explanation?
I've had reservations tinkered with, but never to include an overnight stay.
The one time we were stuck overnight at an airport, AA vouchered us hotel/meals, but they told us where to stay (it was quite nice).
I'd call United back and try to get someone on the line that can fully explain your situation.
Good luck and getting to STT earlier than planned is not a bad thing
