Ocean Pearl or Hawksbill?

Post by vi lover »

We are a family of 4 including 2 teen girls. Spending a week on STJ and looking for value accomodations. Gotta have a pool and want to be closer to Cruz Bay.

We're looking at Hawksbill and Ocean Pearl. Any feedback on them?

Thanks!

We stayed at Hawksbill twice two years ago. It has a very convenient location and is comfortable and cute while in need of minor repair. Nice view, nice pool, easy road access. The kitchen had everything needed. Note that both bedrooms have king or queen so your girls will have to share a bed. It is adjacent to Ristaba and Periwinkle and Jasmine are below. Your pool is visible from the two lower villas. We enjoyed this villa and would stay again. Pm me if you have any questions.

I've often wondered about them. Seem like a good deal for a small family or couple and close to town, pool, AC...
But they don't seem to get any reviews or references from the forums, and that makes me wonder why. I'm interested to see if any one else offers you a review.

We stayed at Hawksbill 7 years ago. One of the reasons we chose it over other similarly priced budget-friendly options was because it has two sitting areas, and we had friends along with us on that trip so we wanted more space. Let me see if I can find any of my old posts on Hawksbill...

Teresa Rae,
Wish I had read your review of Hawksbill before our first stay there. I was locked out early the first morning of our stay. My finance slept for three hours while I stayed under the overhang in a rain shower. Saw a gorgeous rainbow, though. By the way, the pool is larger than the ones we have had at much more luxurious villas. And the kitty was there when we were.

Oh my goodness, 3 hours, wow! Glad to hear that the kitty was still doing well :)

Thanks everyone! We really like the convenience to Cruz Bay, and don't need much "luxury". We're gone all day, come back to clean up then go out for dinner. Back in time to watch a little tv and go to bed.

I just need to get my daughters comfortable with sharing the King bed. They're a little "finicky" about that!

You could also try one of the 2 bedroom units at Cruz Views. Close to Cruz Bay--easy walk down to town, tougher to go back up the hill :-). Reasonable. Some units very, very nice; some not so much--each priced accordingly. Pool and deck/gazebo area/gardens very nice. Views are great. I know that #1 (aka as Bliss) upstairs bedroom can be made up into either 2 twins or 1 king; downstairs bedroom has a queen. #3 has a queen downstairs, 2 twins upstairs. (Same for #4 I think and #10?? jump in here please if anyone knows for sure). If it's during warmer months, #1 and #10 have central air.
Really great location and views.
