3rd Timer - Daysail Advice?
3rd Timer - Daysail Advice?
Hi everyone - Long time lurker - first time poster
First, thanks to all for the fantastic trip reports and advice, I have learned so much here!
We are going for our 3rd time in January, and want to ensure we get some time on the water, last year we did a half day snorkel out of the Westin and it was the best day of the trip. This year I'd love to get to the BVI's, mainly JVD.
My problem is we are traveling with a large group of 14 people (6 adults, 8 kids)..We'd prefer to charter our own boat - this way our kids don't bother anyone, and we don't end up with too much of a booze cruise crowd - but it seems the most these boats hold are 12. Any suggestions?
We'd be open to 2 boats, or a suggestion of a group charter thats family friendly?
Thanks in advance!

To carry more than 12 passengers on an International trip [BVI] a vessel must be SOLAS approved [ Safety of Life at Sea] - maybe look into Sadie Sea or Cinnamon Bay I don't know if they are SOLAS or not -- Kekoa certainly is and although Jan. is a busy time you may be able to negotiate a private trip price you can live with.

Kekoa is fantastic. Don't know what your price range is, but if you can swing it, I'd highly recommend it. More than enough room for all of you and several more friends. It's a family owned operation and they are as nice as can be. The two brothers that own the business built the boat and it has a great story behind it.
We hit a couple of snorkel spots, stopped at Sandy Spit and then spent the rest of the afternoon on White Bay. It was a great day!

Our group of 12 (6 adults, 6 kids) had a wonderful day with Cindy & Matt Ress of Cinnamon Bay Motor Yacht Club this past June. Full day private snorkeling charter (we stayed in US waters) with fuel included for $1250...may be more for a group of 14 and going to BVI. We stopped for lunch at Caneel which was an additional cost and gratuity was appreciated. Here is the link to their site: http://www.motoryachtcinnamonbay.com/pr ... rters.html
