How about Kenny Chesney's "Be As You Are" and "Lucky Old Sun"? These are 2 of my favorite CD's of all time :D .

My favorite as of late has been "Mambo Sinuendo" by Manuel Galban & Ry Cooder:

Think 1950's Cuban and surf guitar, blended. It's out there; definitely not mainstream.

I love most things Toots Hibbert does. He has a great voice. The best intro to Toots is "Funky Kingston" by Toots and the Maytals. I have one playlist on my iPod that is just Toots and Toots all the time. We've played it in the jeep coming home from Skinnys on a moon lit night along the north shore road, stopping off for a swim at Big Maho before the bugs found out we were there. (Oh, this probably belongs in another thread on this forum). Search on iTunes for Toots and the Maytals and Toots Hibbert.

PS. Willie Nelson did a duet with Toots on his "Countryman" album. The tune is "I'm A Worried Man."

Have fun. Don't you just love music?

We took Jimmy B., Marley, Chesney, Zac Brown, and Michael Buble this last trip. The mellow music was for porch sitting in the evenings. Adds a touch of romance! I MISS St. John!! Geesh! :(

Kassav' - start with "Best Of 20ème Anniversaire". The music is French Carribean (Zouk). It's a carnival...

I can't stop myself. Here are some more less obvious suggestions:

Meteor Beach...................Tom Verlaine
St. Thomas......................Sonny Rollins
Limoerio do Norte.............Forro in the Dark
I Can See Clearly Now.......Johnny Nash
dru me negrita.................Ry Cooder and Manuel Galban
Drunk And Disorderly........Mighty Sparrow
Tilt-A-Whirl......................New York Ska Jazz Ensemble
Take Five.........................Rico
Bang Bang.......................Joe Cuba (since you're so close to PR)

Now back to your regular programing.
